Comments:Upon our return to the states, our credit card bill shows a
$600 US charge. We were quoted $100 US for a 1 day rental which we took
the car from 10am-6pm only. Returned with full gas tank, no damage on
walk around. They added a raudulent charge onto our bill of $500 US under
a line item of "varios". Of course when you try to call and
straighten out, they forget English. BE WARNED THESE GUYS ARE CROOKS.
They were allowed to rent from our Hotel lobby (Occidental Xcaret).
My wife and I rented a topless VW from the Reef Club where we stay. The
office is in the lobby and the cars are on scene so there is not
much wating time, just filling out the paper work. The seat would not
lock into position at first but with a little work it finely lock where
I could
set in the seat and reach the pedals. We drove around on the east side
of the island stopped at the local road side shops and did some buying.
Had a
great time, fun driving the vw bring back old times memories of the late
60's. We will do it again when we go back in Feb. 2004. I just wish that
they had a filling station on that end of the island so you would not
have to drive down town. But we came in on the east side of town and filled
up at
the first station and went back on the east side, so that I would have
to drive the the traffic in town.
Re: anyone used Fiesta Cozumel car rental at the Allegro???
I think we used Fiesta from the Reef Club - kind of a long story, a little bit
irritated by some of the terms but it was very convenient to get the car at
the hotel - got one of the "topless" VW's and had a great time
driving around the island.
