Comments: Excellent hotel for divers.
A bit noisy (noise from the permanent traffic on the road in front of the
hotel), but excellent configuration and location for divers. All rooms have a
view on the sea, nice sunsets, etc. The room is just a few meters from the
dive center (Blue Angel), the pool and the beach/shore.
Special kuddo to Blue Angel. Very professionnal and knowledgeable.
Excellent equipment and divemasters (especially Ramon and Matt).
Always choose the smaller and faster boats !
They did all they could to accomodate all my requests (I am both an advanced
diver and a photographer and therefore I always have particular requests). I
also enjoyed very much the unlimited dives from the shore. The one-day Cenotes
trip (Dos Ojos) with Matt was also an excellent experience. I look forward to
visitig again in summer time to go with Alejandra ("the boss") to Holbox to
meet the whale sharks !

Comments: We dove with divemater Jorge for 3 days including Columbia
Reef and Maracaibo Deep for first dives and San Francisco and Tormentos
for second. Divers picked sites. Jorje, our divemaster was very
knowledgeable and helpful. Generally no more than 6 divers go at a time,
but he allowed 9 to go to Maracaibo since it's so unusual for anyone go.
He assured everyone that it wouldn't be a problem as he dove with all of
us in smaller groups in previous days and was confident in everyone's
abilities. He was right. I have never dove with a better group of any
size. This is the only dive shop I will use in the future on Cozumel.
Comments: My brother and I stayed at the Iberostar again this year for
8 days. We mostly go for the diving. The grounds and rooms again were
very nice, although the beds are still hard. We had an upstairs room(#8314)
this time with thatched roof. No, it didn't leak at all. The AC, ceiling
fan, water, and refridg worked fine. TV was OK. Safe in the room was secure
and handy. Maid service very good if you tip a few $ each day. Laundry
service good and prompt. The pool is great, very large and clean. Free
intros to scuba in the pool for the non-divers twice each day. There is
a kids play area near the pool and I saw a few kids playing in there on
a play ship. The beach area is great, nice and clean. Not great for snorkeling
though. The food buffet selection for dinner and lunch was large but some
of the food just didn't seem to be as good as last year. I give the lunch
and dinner food a 7/10. The breakfast buffet was great every day and gets
a 10/10. We ate at Ib
erostar steak house last year and it was great. Didn't get there this
year. The wait staff was very attentive and polite. Some nights a mariachi
band would walk through. They were really quite good. We did get a chance
to eat breakfast in town at Jeannies Waffle house one morning and it was
great, nice ocean view. We again used Blue Angel Divers at the Caribe
Blu (formerly Hotel Lorena). The divemaster Jorge is extremely knowledgable
and competent. Each day he would pick us up at the Iberostar dock and
ask us where we wanted to go. He always let us stay down till we hit 500psi,
and didn't make us surface with all the rest of the air suckers.( Some
people need to learn that diving is not a race or competition.) Jorge
always pointed out interesting things like seahorses, eels, toadfish,
turtles etc. He again this year, knew exactly where to find a seahorse.
On some of the dives we had 60 - 90 min bottom time. The boats were small
and fast with no more than 5 or 6 di
vers.... Nice. We highly recommend Blue Angel divers and will use them
again next year. Got in 17 dives this year, all had great vis, some nearing
200 ft. We have definitely noticed a growing number of large reef wildlife
in the last few years. Since 2000, we have seen an increasing number of
sharks, turtles, eagle rays, etc. I'm told this is due to the creation
of the National Marine Reserve back in 95'. It appears to be working.
We rarely saw the big animals back in 95' - 99'
The downsides of the trip: The increasing number of cruise ships making
port, the pushy street vendors(more pushy than a carnival worker at the
state fair), the expensive taxi to town($17). We have never seen so many
people in Cozumel ever. Next year, I swear we are taking t-shirts that
say," I'm not from the cruise ship". We did learn to remove
our hotel wrist bands while shopping.
We give the Iberostar a 9/10 this year. Blue Angel divers gets a 9/10.

Comments: Dove with Blue Angel even though I was staying at the Reef Club
which has its own dive shop. They picked me up right at the dock each day.
Blue Angel was highly recommended by Minnesota Dive Center where I received my
dive training. My experience with Blue Angel was first rate and I will
continue to dive with them on return trips to Cozumel. Was able to do a
shore dive first to get weights set and get used to ocean diving. Ramon
was my dive master on the boat dives and he did a great job of helping me
enjoy my first ocean diving experience. I was comfortable every dive
with him (8) and had an absolute blast. His knowledge of the reefs and
ability to spot hiding fish only added to the experience. Everyone at
Blue Angel is very professional, polite, and helpful. Luiz and Jeannie were
especially helpful with my initial questions and the shore dive. Prices
were very reasonable and the boat crews were deserving of tips. I highly
recommend Blue Angel to any diver
s going to Cozumel. I talked with several other divers who had
been diving with Blue Angel for years and they all said that Blue Angel was
the best on the island.

Comments: We were very happy with the Blue
Angel dive operators, it was very well organized, the boats and their captains
were efficient and the diving was great. Lots of variety in fish life
and coral, the vis. could'nt have been better. We dove mostly with
Mat who was a great dive master but all the masters seemed very capable
and accomodating. The Lorena next door was were we stayed and our front
yard was great for shore diving, complete with Seahorses and Eagle Rays.
We highly recommend
Blue Angle and the Lorena Hotel.
Comments: I was very pleased with Blue Angel. I spent many hours
looking over reviews on the internet before booking with them. They were
just as the reviews said. The divers got to choose where we wanted to go
and what we wanted to see. There was extended bottom time (50+mins.) on
the deep dives. When I first got there, I did a shore dive just to get
my weights right and there was quite a bit to see right off shore from their
shop and I was ready for the real thing the next day. They let divers go
up as each got low on air so those that had more, got to stay down a little
longer. Alex and Matt were both great (dive masters) and Victor at the
shop was very helpful arranging things. I brought a pony tank, which
they accomadated for. They even had spare ones brought to the shop so I
wouldn't be without one, should mine need to be filled.
Would definitely use again.

Comments: Excellent dive shop! Id say, the best Ive gone with. We
stayed at Lorena right next door and, unfortunately, I dove with Papa Hogs the
first day out. I should have just gone straight to Blue Angel.
They rented me excellent equipment, the boats cruise out FAST, and the dive
masters are the best Ive ever dealt with. Oh yeah, they were cheaper
than most others as well, especially if you do the dive package thru Lorena.
I know who Im diving with next time in Cozumel!
Comments: My wife and I decided to do a dive while on our trip to Cancun.
Blue Angel staff met picked us up at he Ferry dock, shuttled us to the dive
site of our choice and we had 2 of the best dives ever! Maxi (divemaster) was
great! Showed us many fish and creatures, and was very professional. Alex runs
a top notch facility. We toured the Lorena Hotel and will be back in a few
months. No more Cancun for us...we're staying in Cozumel! Great new shop, wih
excellent diving right out front! Lots to see!!
Comments: I highly recommend Blue Angel. Aluminum 80's are used.
Morning, afternoon, twilight, and night dives offered. Divers decide
sites. Fast six-pack boats used, six divers per boat. Twenty-five
dollars per tank, slightly less with Lorena Hotel/dive package deal.
Blue Angel is now located at Lorena Hotel site. Nitrox is eight dollars
per tank extra. Up to surface interval when at 750 psi makes for
extended bottom times. Divers out of air early go up to surface interval
with your buddy. Highly personable owner and staff. I've logged
over one hundred dives with Blue Angel over this last year. I always
enjoy diving with them.

Comments: Just returned from Cozumel on 2-8-02 and had a great time diving
with Blue Angel. I had taken the referral course here at home with my
brother in law and needed to get certified in Cozumel, we chose Blue Angel, a
great choice! Catherine was our instructor and was nothing less than
excellent; instruction, preperation, and awareness. The two of us were the
only people in class and received maximum attention. On our boat dives
along with Catherine we only had another diver and dive master great dives.
Overall it was a great diving experience and I am looking forward to diving with
Blue Angel and Catherine agian! I am definately hooked on diving.
My wife and I completed our 4 check-out dives plus 3 dives afterwards with
Blue Angel. Their boats were small and fast. The highest ratio of divers to
divemaster/instructor was 5:2. On our night dive we had Alex (owner), Ramon (divemaster),
and Tim (naturalist) to 4 divers! We saw turtles, eels, lobsters, and a 10'
shark! They give personal attention to all divers. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd
have to rate them a 12!
I just got back from Cozumel Last night.7/28/01
I was there for 7 days, I dove with Blue Angel divers or another name for them
is Alex & Alex.I have been a diver for many years and dove all over the
world, and a padi dive master. I must tell you this is the best dive shop I have
ever dove with. The personalize service, safty, friendly staff, exstented bottom
time ( 50 min.+) ,fast boats made my dive trip this time to Cozumel the very
best.I dove with Blue Bubble for many years and never got this type of service,
after a change in management there prices (13 us dollars more a tank) went thru
the roof. So I looked for a new dive shop did all my homework and came up with
Alex & Alex and am I glad I did. On several of my trips they even sent a
marine biologist, who answered questions on the differnt marine life. This was
very interesting to say the lease, and they sent him at no charge.Just there way
of making your trip that much better. I can't say enough about this dive shop.
They are the best by far. When in Cozumel I won't dive with antone else and I go
4 to 5 times a your. And if you dive with them you won't either.
Thanks
John
i dove with blue angel in Nov.
and they were great !
Alex used to be with Scuba Shack and gave us A-1 treatment ,
our divemasters were Robert and Katheren, they were very friendly and
treated us to some fantastic dives
You shouldnt be disapointed with them , enjoy your dives
