Comments: This is a jewel away from the tourist crowd. Very centrally located, beach and downtown in easy walking distance. Lots of local restaurants around. The place itself is spotlessly kept and has friendly personnel. The garden and pool are a dream and perfect for a swim after scuba diving. The owners, Kathy and Bob, are very helpful without being intrusive and make you feel welcome. I've previously stayed in hotels in Cozumel and will never do so again, unless there is no pace for me at Amigos. Kathy also arranged for me to dive with Victor Brito, El Gran Azul and again a jackpot! I've learned a lot from Victor, feel much more comfortable diving and learned to identify several fish species. Victor is not only a divemaster, bu talso a fish specialist. I highly recommend both Amigo's and El Gran Azul. Can't wait to return next year!
Muchas gracias Kathy, Bob, Hjasibi, Alfonso and Victor!

Comments: We found Amigo's online and comparing it to other accommodations we reveiwed it seemed like it would suit our needs perfectly.  We were not disappointed in the least! The location is a nice walking distance from the town square and there are numerous places to eat and shop close by.  By having a refrigerator in the room we almost always brought home leftovers for lunch or snacks the following day.  Most days my sister and I were diving with Victor,( an underwater experience not to be missed ), while the two teenagers with us slept from having danced until dawn. Afternoon hang time by the pool is a nice contrast to the bustle of cruise ship shoppers on the waterfront. The staff is very friendly and whether you speak the language or not conversations are bound to happen. The fruit from the garden is a special treat as are the muffins and occasional egg dish.  My only criticisim, which is so minor it may seem petty, is that I like really strong coffee.  All in all I give the place an A+ and will absolutely go back.  Thank you Kathy!

Yes, we really liked it there, though the breakfasts are not hot: cold cereal, toast and jam, that kind of thing. However the rooms include kitchenette and if you don't want to cook in your room (I didn't) you can access the communal stove to make your egg breakfasts. Very convenient in town location. We've also stayed at Summer Place and like their set up too.

Comments: My husband and I stayed twice in 2003, once for a week in January and then for 11 days in Feb/Mar, 2003.

We loved the Amigos B and B and enjoyed the owners, Kathy and Bob. They were both very friendly, but not intrusive. WE learned a lot from them about not only Cozumel, but also Mexico.

We would definitely stay with them again.

Comments: A nice, clean laid back B&B in a garden setting a 10 minute walk to San Miguel town and the centre of things.  An excellent base for excursions by foot, taxi or rental.

Not a resort, but a pleasant place to stay between excursions.

Comments: Had a great stay at Bob & Kathy Kopelman's Amigo's Bed & Breakfast. I was there leading a small women's photo workshop group and the location/facility was perfect...comfortable, clean, private, with beautiful gardens and delicious fresh fruit right off the trees in the garden. Kathy went out of her way to make sure everything was right for us. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions! Thanks Bob & Kathy!!!

Comments: Amigo's Bead and Breakfast is one of those names on our wish list to come back to, sharing this list with Maui (Hawaii), Konya (Turkey), Ubud (Bali), Kirkwall (Orkneys) and a few other places. Immediately after our arrival we felt ourselves at home, and were really treated as friends. Although we have rather uncommon dietary and other requirements, Kathy was very helpful to assist and advise us in a very effective way. A disadvantage was the noise of the sports fields in the neighbourhood, but the sound of the singing frogs in the beautiful garden made up for that. Therefore: highly recommended!

Comments: Dear Kathy,
thanks for your hospitality. We were in your B&B in Bacalar the same dayas we left Cozumel.Your Bacalar house is located in beautifull surrounding and I was supprized that there were so few tourist in this area.We visited Kochunlich, Palenque ( Pakal piramide was in scaffolding and closed) Uxmal (very nice) however we were dissapointed with Chichen Itza.Aqua Azul was beautifull but not blue - after rain it had a lot of brown slush - very impressive view.
Nowhere on our trip did we meet with such a homely atmosphere us in your place.
Last 4 days we spend in Tulum which we found very expensive and over
advertised.
Speciall greetings for Victor Brito with whom we have spend so much pleasent time underwater.
> Thank you once again

Comments: I hesitate to give my actual review because I wish there to be room for me at Amigos when I go back.  My visit this July was my second to Amigos and  choose to stay nowhere else while in Cozumel.  Kathy and Bob are gracious hosts and have an equally gracious staff.  For those who desire a most authentic feel; nothing can rival the relaxed, peaceful atmosphere at Amigos.  Before my daily scuba diving excursions, I sipped freshly brewed coffee and sampled an array of tropical fruits and freshly baked muffins while watching hummingbirds sip nectar from the hibiscus flowers.  After diving, I rinsed my gear, dipped in the pool, and relaxed in the hammock under the palapa.  Need I say more?

We stayed at Amigos in April 2002. The property and the hosts were great. The rooms were large with private bathes. The pool was always clean and inviting. Many of the beautiful fruit trees were in bloom when we were there. The continental breakfast included fresh picked fruit from the garden, delicious. Since we enjoy walking, e found it very convenient to walk to town. We never needed to rent a car. The few times we went to the other side of the island, we took a taxi. We really enjoyed it and will be back. Al and Jean Loos

I agree with Krissy...I stayed at Amigo's in January 2002 and was so happy with there beautiful property, good service, stocked fridge with beer, good breakfasts, close to so many things and the hosts will give you lots of info that will help your stay be even more enjoyable (good restaurants in the area - one's you wouldn't know about otherwise).   Been to Coz 5 times and enjoyed there place the most.   Very private grounds (house is away from guest area) and only 3 rooms, makes this place very quiet and peaceful.   GOOD LUCK!!!!

Amigo's very good except...they don't have an available washer & dryer for their guests - (you could ask to pay a per load price, I suppose) - we used a laundry service around the corner.  They have a lovely pool and orchard within the walls of the property - very nice, secluded and quiet.  We were served cold breakfasts - cereal, Kathy's homemade muffins, toast - lots of fresh fruit (some right off their own trees), and great coffee, juice, milk, etc...I'm sure they would have provided a cooked breakfast if we would have requested it (for an extra price), but we were quite satisfied.

They also provide a drying area for wet suits and diving equipment.  The rooms are large, and each come with a little kitchenette - sink, stove top range and small fridge - excellent for keeping your own cervesas cold and ready.

This B&B is a few blocks back from the waterfront and town center, so we found it convenient to have our own rental VW for our stay.  This gave us lots of flexibility.

We absolutely loved this place (went in January).  Beautiful property, rooms have own bathrooms, nice pool area, good breakfasts, etc.   Location is close to town (walking distance) and the owners are wonderful (Bob & Kathy Kopelman).  We've rented 4 bedrooms homes before and stayed at hotels and this was by far one of the best places we've stayed in Cozumel.  Good luck in your search... let me know if you have specific questions.  The pictures on the board here just don't do it justice - it really is a beautiful place.  Very peaceful and relaxing.

Our group of four recently stayed at Amigos on a quick 4 day trip to Cozumel. The rooms and service were outstanding. One of our favorite tropical fruits is guanobana(sp?) which we have not been able to locate. When we noticed that Kathy had a tree of them in the orchard and mentioned it, we not only had fresh guanobana for breakfast the next morning but there was even a pie for snacks. This is just typical of the level of service we received at Amigos. Kathy is a former New Yorker so language was no barrier even though my southern drawl is apparent. She has lived on Cozumel 16 years so she is a fount of information on what, where, and when to do. I can not even begin to describe the grounds at Amigos. The best I can do is it is a gorgeous tropical fruit orchard with a wonderful swimming pool set right in it. We virtually had the place to ourselves since there are only three guest rooms and we had two of them. The location is a residential area so it is no problem to walk to a "real" taqueria for supper and any activities are a short taxi ride away. Taxis were plentiful right on our corner. If you are looking for a relaxing, comfortable trip with just a hint of do it yourself adventure, I heartily recommend Amigos, and when you go tell Kathy that Sam, Mary, Jan & Joe  said HI.

Amigos B&B isn't quite as elegant as HSM, but it is absolutely beautiful in their gardens.  The gardener is one of the most friendly people I've ever met.  Kathy and Bob are absolutely fabulous hosts and the breakfasts are great. The best Churizo on the island is made here!  The rooms are large and clean, the water is hot and the location can't be beat.  The price is comparable to HSM.

Amigo's B&b, We just spent a week at Amigos and it was like Paradise. The grounds and pool were great for just being lazy and that was exactly what we wanted. It also was near enough to town to walk to the center of the action in the evening. We'll be back and I highly recommend it to others.
