Comments: First, Sherri lived up to everything other reviewers have said
before me. How many property owners would wait in their office until
10:00 to greet you after your plane was delayed 6 hours? Then, after the
*travel day from hell,* she informs us that someone else wanted
"our" efficiency for two weeks, and since we were there for ony 5
days, "would we mind" if she upgraded us to her 2-bedroom, 2-bath,
no extra charge!!! At least ONE good thing happened on that day!
The villa was absolutely a delight, and we really enjoyed the local flavor,
walking around the neighborhoods, visiting the corner drugstore, etc.
There were times when we wished we were closer to the water, but that was
mostly from our lack of planning and hectic dive schedule (not to mention
having to make time to shop to replace our lost luggage! Thanks, US Airways!).
The locals are friendly and we always felt safe, even while walking down unlit
streets late in the evening. We rented a jeep on our last day, and
wished we'd have done it sooner, but there are always plenty of taxis around.
I didn't realize there were bug problems at other places on the island until
reading about it on this forum, but just to reaffirm, we saw NO bugs during
our stay! We enjoyed the company of Sherri's cats, though. ;-)
We dove with Eagle Ray, and would highly recommend them also.
After staying at IslaMar, I can't imagine enduring another noisy, hectic
high-rise hotel.
Comments: I have stayed at IslaMar villas on two previous occasions, and
each stay has been delightful. Hard to say what impressed me most--the
amazing cleanliness of the rooms and grounds (when I booked a room off
Cozumel's big-hotel beaten path, I expected to have to deal with bugs--I
didn't have to at IslaMar), the friendliness and accommodating nature of the
management (Sherri is extremely conscientious about making her guests
comfortable and goes out of her way to ensure they are having a good time), or
the excellent amenities and facilities at the villas (perfectly functioning
air conditioning, hot showers, microwave, tv/vcr, stocks of videos and books,
lovely pool and jacuzzi, pretty landscaping, hammocks, convenient dive gear
rinse and storage area). I have stayed in a one-bedroom suite as well as
the efficiency apartment, and both offer plenty of space, comfortable beds,
fully-equipped kitchens, decorator touches, and very efficient housekeeping.
IslaMar's location offers the opportunity to see the Cozumel that the cruise
ship passengers miss--neighborhood shops, bakeries, and restaurants, children
on their way to and from school or playing in the park, and families gathered
in front of their homes after dinner. With a rental car or bike,
everything you'd need or want, including the waterfront, is just a few minutes
away. Without, most everything is walking distance, or, when carrying
dive gear to the docks, an inexpensive cab ride away. If you're looking
to hang with the Carlos & Charlie's crowd 24/7, you may want to book a
room on the "strip" (for a lot more money), but if you're a serious
diver, or prefer to relax and enjoy the island at your own pace, IslaMar's
quality and value can't be beat!

Comments: Where do I start? First with Sherri as a host and property owner.
She does an amazing job with IslaMar. The suites (we've seen all of them and
have stayed in the 2BR and 1BR) are very nicely decorated and each has been
given the special touches that make it "homey," not "hotely."
Everything about this property is first class.
Sherri's staff keeps the grounds and rooms absolutely spotless. No kidding.
After a night of pretty heavy rain, the groundskeeper was out in the yard
raking up every single leaf that feel off the trees and hosing down the
sidewalk and pool area. The rooms are emaculate. Keep in mind, this is a
billed as a "diver's suite," so you would expect there to be some
sand always on the floors. Nope. The floors are swept and mopped every day.
Also, and this is a huge plus -- no bugs. Sherris obviously has this property
on a regular extermination schedule. Some places in town get a little lax on
this -- especially during low season. No bugs at IslaMar. But, if you're
lucky, you'll see the little geckos running around on the grounds. They're fun
to watch.
The dive rinse area -- also kept very clean. We have never been hesitant to
soak our wetsuits in the tanks. Again, we've stayed at other properties whose
tanks were nastier than our gear. But IslaMar's facilities are extremely clean
and well-maintained and cared for.
This is truly our home away from home when we travel to Cozumel. In fact, I
told Sherri when we were there the last time, our future trips to Cozumel will
be planned around the 1BR suites being available. We don't care to ever stay
anywhere else again!

Comments: IslaMar Villas came highly recommended and lived up
to the recommendation.
Clean! comfortable and located just a few minutes to everything. Perfect
for diving with the dive rinse and storage area - very safe and secure.
Enjoyed relaxing by the pool and having coffee on the sunny porch in
morning. Sherri was helpful and friendly and keen to recommend dive
shops, restaurents tours and much more. We will definitely be returning
to IslaMar and have recommended it to friends both divers and non-divers.
Keep up the good work Sherri!

Comments: IslaMar Suites feels more like a Home than a Hotel!
From the time you arrive:*With the personal pick-up at the Airport - to your
own hammock overlooking the pool, the Suites are like your personal appartmet
in Cozumel. The Suites are fully furnished with all the comforts of home, T.V.,
VCR, Fridge, A.C., Ceiling Fans, Microwave Oven, Coffe Maker, etc....
And for once, you will not get any complaints from your Wife/Girlfriend,
because the
rooms are done in a very tastefull Caribbean decor, with all the warm
little femine touches, that make it feel like a home. Sherri is also on hand
to help you with any questions that you may have about Cozumel. She knows when
to go & what to do & where to find it! The pool and grounds are very
well kept & give off that relaxed tranquill feeling. It is especially
spirit-lifting, at the end of the day, as you swing lazily back and forth in
your own hammock, sipping a cool drink and enjoying the Island breeze. At
night it is very safe to roam about or go out on the town and "Hit the
Bars." When you do go out, make sure that you always carry the address
card Sherri gives you. Most of the cab drivers don't know where IslaMar Suites
is located yet. The ride to the Plaza, from IslaMar should cost $2 dollars
U.S.(and that includes tip). You can walk it if you want, it's a nice little
workout. If you are carrying dive gear however, get a cab. This is the
only thing, that I would change about IslaMar Suites: I wish it was a lot
closer to the Ocean. The money saved however, means you can stay an extra week
or two!
The Hotel/Dive package with Dive Paradise is a very good value! Dive Paradise
is a very reputable Dive Shop, and "Apple" the owner, works very
hard at making your diving, in Cozumel, as easy as just falling into the
Ocean! I have been diving with Dive Paradise for almost 10 years, and they
have never let me down yet. Apple is always there to help with any&all
problems or requests. She has even helped me out with nondiving related
difficulties!
It is very comforting to have people like "SHERRI & APPLE"
looking out for you, when you are traveling, in a foreign country, far from
Home...............
Happy Travels, BIG...MIKE..................
p.s. The Diving in Cozumel is always outstanding year after year. You just
relax & drift with the current, letting the Wonders of the UnderWater
World reveal themselves to you, in all their glorious beauty!!!
Comments: Islamar is away from the hustle and bustle of the
main tourist area.Great kitchen facilities with easy access to bakeries
,groceries and fruit stands. Being met at the airport on our arrival and
guided thru the steps to reach our accomodations made this a stress free
adventure. Our accomodations were roomy and very well equipped. We really liked
the idea of living in a Mexican residental area with about a ten minute walk
to the main tourist area.
While Islamar is very well set up to accomodate divers it is surely not
necessary to be a diver to enjoy .These accomodations have the comfort of
North American standard with a flavour of mexico.
We both highly recommend Islamar

Comments: We stayed in a one bedroom guest villa at IslaMar
vacation villas for two weeks over Christmas and New Years and had a wonderful
relaxing time. We were met, by the owner, on our arrival so that there
was no confusion as to where we needed to go and the taxi ride from the ferry
docks was inexpensive and quick. Sherri made sure that all of our
questions were answered before we left home and also after we arrived.
Clean, comfortable, private, friendly and all the facilities and accommodation
was exactly as described and pictured on her site.
We were able to stay for two weeks for the same price that an 'all-inclusive'
would have been for one week and that made us very happy.
The diving was great - Dive Paradise was everything they were touted to be and
we had a blast exploring the island but most of all just relaxing
quietly and enjoying the books and movies (provided in the Villa) and the
sunshine.
*****Highly recommended we will definitely be returning to Cozumel in the near
future and staying at IslaMar Vacation Villas.
