Comments: What makes this hotel the best value in Cozumel?
From the low rates to the great location to the great staff I can't
imagine a better hotel.
Most of the staff speaks english which is convenient but from Tom the
owner to Kelly the manager they know the island very well and
can let you know where the best restaurants to eat at or the cheapest
place to rent a car.
The bar serves a great waffle breakfast, an internet computer is
available and there is a happy hour that makes relaxing very easy and
comfortable.
Perhaps what makes this place a little bit special is the feeling of
community the staff manages to bring to their guests. You'll
enjoy your stay at the Hotel Flamingo and make friends which will
outlast your vacation.

Comments: We loved this place..the staff are very helpful and give
good practical advice. The morning coffee at the Bar at the Courtyard
is great!
It is well located...a block from the Museum and a block and half from
Zermatt's bakery!
Here is a hint if you stay there...the restaurant across the street
may not look like the kind of place where you would want to dine..BUT
it is wonderful and the people who run it are very accomodating.
The Hotel Manager, Kelly, will not steer you wrong!

It is located a half block from the museum, which is a great place for
breakfast by the way. The rooms are nice and clean and the staff is very
friendly. The do not have a pool or restaurant but do have a nice
courtyard and balcony. You are about three blocks from the main square so
you have many shops and restaurants withing walking distance.

check out the hotel flamingo. very inexpensive. close to town. 1/2 block
to waterfront. it's a small hotel with a courtyard, a rooftop palapa with
a view of the water, a "bar' in the lobby where the coffee in the am is
wonderful...also for breakfast or snacks or drinks. people who work there
are great!!

...We found the Flamingo to be the best place that we have stayed during our
travels through mexico. The staff truly made us feel like family - Julian,
Laura, Letica, Eva and desire. The breakfast that Julian prepared each morning
was excellent- especialy the waffles. The hotel is decorated in very festive
colors and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. When ever we needed
something, the staff seemed to go out of their way to help. The place is high on
my list and I would reccomend it to anyone who wants that special kind of
service that you cannot find in the larger hotels. I forgot about the flamingo's
dive operation. They are associated with a great dive operation that works out
of the hotel. You can rent new scuba pro gear from the hotel the night before
and be all set up. They take you by taxi to the pier and then the dive staff
take care of everything. A really nice thing is they serve a lunch buffet on the
boat- we were not even expecting that. Well, I could keep going on, but the
owner Tom has done a really excellent job of putting together a great staff,
beautiful surroundings, comfortable rooms, and in the end providing a good value
to the customer.

another vote for the Hotel Flamingo. more than just clean....a bit of
paradise. last summer the rate was $39; recently it was $49. you
won't be disappointed! (that is for a room with 2 double beds)
they also have a penthouse apt with two bedrooms with an awesome view. rate
varies: recently it was $139. i don't know how many it sleeps.

We were up early, of course. Headed down to the lobby of the Flamingo for our “included” breakfast.
The Flamingo
This hotel was a downtown eye sore before Thomas Fryer came along and rescued it, about 3 ˝ years ago.
A small place, very neat and clean. Great paint scheme and decoration. There is nothing fancy here. All the basics and no shortage of “hot” water. A nice lounging area on each floor, with a couple of hammocks. (For serious goofing off.) Nicely planted and
landscaped. The roof top area is great for watching sunsets or sunrise if you are so inclined.
It only takes a few minutes to feel welcome here. The staff is relaxed but always in control. From the front desk to the maids, everyone is pleasant and helpful.
The bar in the lobby doubles as the kitchen for breakfast. A small but adequate menu is posted on the wall by the computer, (which is available for internet access at reasonable prices). There is an onsite dive master, who Michael will critique in his dive report.
Food: Fresh juice, tomato, avocado, eggs, waffles and breads, all cooked to order.
The coconut waffle syrup was unique and very good. I found the croissant sandwich to be an
a above average offering. Ham, cheese, sliced avocado and tomato, lightly toasted.
Better than Jack-in-the-Box any day! And the biggest surprise of all: very good coffee!!

Re: Hotel Flamingo is great** a Jewel in Cozumels Crown
This small hotel IS the place so many are looking for but seem somehow to
miss. Its location on Calle 6 between the Ocean and 5 is close to town and all
thats there, but yet quite .
It looks like Mexico. It feels like your in Mexico from the tile floors and
walls to the Gardens and Patio with its hand made fountain, to the bar in the
lobby. This bar by the way is open early for breakfast with the divers needs in
mind. The rooms are nicly appointed and of very good size with large windows and
fans in every room . Yes they do have A/C but as a diver this is something I
seldom use . The colors through out from the first floor to the roof top palapa
are Mexico all the way . Not loud or guady but festive and bright. The staff Tom
has put together is fantastic from Desiree at the desk to Jose the night
watchman add to this one of the best Bartenders pouring one of the greatest
Margareta's on the island and **soft** music with a Latic or Island beat. What
more could you want?
No I have NO interest or holdings in this wonderful Hotel . It was just
time for me to voice MHO. YT Richard and Pepita

I absolutely agree, with some reserve +
only because I don't want this place to be full if I'm in need
of a hotel to stay at. This is my favorite place to stay downtown, that is, if I
can't mooch a room at one of my amigos casa's.

Hello!
We came through in June/July 99. It was our honeymoon and we stayed way out at
one of the exclusive resorts. We stopped everyday we were in town for ice cream
bars at your place there. We will be staying with you when we come back! Your accommodations
are very nice and the people there were very friendly. I just wish we would have
known about you sooner.
