Comments: I visited Cozumel with my school for our Mexico trip. My stay at Hotel Fontan was amazing. The rooms were very clean, the people were very friendly. So friendly, one of the waiters in the resterant made a cake for one of my girlfriends mom. It was so nice. The food was normal nothing to spectacular. Seeing the sun go down each night and all the amazing colors was the most amazing sight I had ever seen.
I will mention though, there was a fire in the bar. My whole school that attended this vacation had to meet in the lobbyy. The fire was then put out and we all were sent back to our rooms. Hotel Fontan really is a nice hotel with tile flooring and a very large bathroom. It is amazing. I would tell anyone to stay there.
Thank you much

Comments: The Hotel Fontan, (Funclub Cozumel) is nothing but a scam. They ripped us off and others without batting an eye. They were supposed to use the memberships to renovate the hotel and didn't do squat. No we can't even get a hold of them. If you see Gina, Troy or Cindy, tell them the world isn't big enough to hide them.

Comments: Funclub said that they owned Hotel fontan and didn't. Selling memberships on that basis. They did honor our reservations and for the agreed upon amount we stayed at the COral Princess which was great and a great value. We would love to go there again. Has anyone dealt with Funclub recently? Are they still booking reservations ? Thanks, Trudy

Wife and I ended up staying at Coral Princess in Feb... As far as being had???... Our bill for the room for the week was 360 US... with our airfare and a car our grand total was under 1200 (in high season, I might add)for a week.
When we joined Funclub, the Fontan was supposed to be undergoing renovations... the owners abandoned the idea and merged(?) with Coral Princess. And since the 'club' at the Fontan was closed during Feb., Alex got us a couple of cases of Sol to put in our room fridge. And the Coral Princess is a great hotel. Always had hot water for showers, comfortable beds, friendly staff (even when they found us up on the roof).. all in all, one of the best trips we ever had to Cozumel.

Anyway,
Not every offer you receive in life is bogus, you just have to have some faith occasionally.

Yeah, Hotel Fontan is beginning to look like something out old press photos of buildings in Beruit. And I'll admit that we got caught in this scam, though they offered a very, very cheap deal as I got up to leave their presentation 2 years ago (I've looked in the mirror and still can't read "Sucker" anywhere on my face). However, the Fun Club booked a room at Coral Princess for my son last December at a very good price. We've received Emails from them since, so maybe there's hope,...

We got scared off by the folks at the Fontan.  After the hype about it not being a timeshare, my wife got sucked into a high pressure sales talk about their vacation packages, and they had her in tears.  They did get $20 from us that we had used to secure a room, but it was worth it to me to let them have the bucks and not put up with their sales pitch.

My wife, son and myself stayed there last year. It was clean, friendly and the staff most helpful. The so called hot tub did not work and the pool was not very clean. The entrance to the water is OK, and the snorkeling is good. My son was supplied with lots of bread to feed the fish. The waiters helped my son learn Spanish. This place was great for us as price was right,we did not want an all inclusive as I wanted my son to see and meet the local people. It is not a place with lots of luxuries, but I would stay there again.

The A.C. was fine, water was always warm, and we had no power loss. I will be using the Fontan in Jan. 2001, I was going this year but instead, my family and the dog are camping to Newfoundland this summer, so we can kayak with the whales.I also want my son to see all of Canada.

PS. the food was only so-so.
