Albinos
JUMP
TO NEW REVEIWS
I was recently in Cozumel 10/18-10/23 and
dinned at an interesting restaurant that deserves mention.
I was to meet some friends, who live in Cozumel, for dinner.
My friends know I like places that aren't necessarily overrun
with tourists and offer a more authentic local dinning experience,
they recommended a place they been going to called Albinos,
located on 20th Ave norte between 10th & 12th calle.
Albinos is located in a residential area on the second story
with an open air dinning room, the menu is in Spanish and
little, if no English is spoken. The menu is divided into
sections: meats, seafood, chicken and has multiple selections
of each. We had appetizers of salsa and chips, bean dip
and a hot dish with Conch, all were very tasty. For the
main course I had the whole snapper fried and it was great.
I didn't see what every one had, but did notice the person
sitting next to me had shrimp tacos with lots of melted
cheese and they looked yummy and everyone else said they
enjoyed their meal. I didn't try it, but noticed they sold
lobster by the kilo, which I thought was interesting. When
presented with our check it was a pleasant surprise, our
total bill came to about $12 per person including cocktails,
which I thought was excellent considering almost everyone
had seafood. If you are looking for something a little different
away from the more "touristy" parts of town, then
I would give Albino's a try. Kim S.

My family and I were just in Cozumel the week
of 7/1-7/8 (it was heaven) and on one of our visits to Zhul-Ha
my husband met a gentleman by the name of Michael Lawrence
who also happens to be the author/photographer for the Lonely
Planet book series. Besides being an extremely nice and
interesting person he turned us on to a great restaurant
called Albinos. It's a little further into town, away
from the commercialized strip, but let me tell you well
worth the few extra dollars on the taxi ride. We were
a family of four who ordered appetizers, fresh red snapper
(presented to us before they grilled it) with fresh vegetables,
rice, beans, guacamole, deserts, 4 beers, 2 sodas and the
bill came out to $35.00!! It was so good and the service
was so awesome my husband tipped them an extra $25.00. He
refused to pay less than that. Compared to the dinners
we had the previous nights with tabs in excess of $100.00,
this was the best. So if your planning a trip soon,
make sure to pay them a visit, you won't regret it!
