Comments:This place was interesting. For the right person, it is a real find. It was fun to get to and had great views of the ocean. The problem
for me personally, was the the old dirty guest underwear hanging throughout the place. I prefer a cleaner place. But we had fun - they had good
drinks, bar food, and photo albums of guests that had taken it all off for their camera. This was definitely spirited fun bar; I wouldn't recommend it
for kids.

Comments: First off, when you go to Cozumel, you are losing the flavor of the island if you don't go to the 'other' side.   The shades of the water are magnificient....I'd guess we saw 10 different shades as we looked out.  The waves crashing against the rocks initially, and then the cliffs as you go a little further south are just unbelievable.   I don't remember the name of the little place almost on the corner as your cross over the highway in the middle of the island, but Pabulo is great.....they have a little "shop" where he will come down in price if you ask....ok.....ask, walk away and then he'll catch up with you to give you the price you wanted.  It's a funky shop.....next to the "old" motel....with a bar/restaurant next to it.   Coconuts is on down the road a little ways......and believe me, and most the people who have written on here, it is FABULOUS.
The atmosphere is almost fairy tale, as there are "little" palms, with paths between them down to the cliff and more tables there.  The pictures we got were almost true to life photo's and have only brought "WOW's".  The water is spectacular.   Do not go to Cozumel without going across the island!!!   Just don't!!!   And then have one of the best times, and best memories of your life.  :)

Comments: This was no doubt the best place we visited on our recent trip to Cozumel.  It's located on a cliff overlooking some of the most beautiful beach and water we  have ever seen.  Excellent drinks and very much enjoyed the conch with garlic.

Comments: My husband and I returned from Cozumel 3-20-03.  We spent 13 days and found this restaurant to have rude staff and terrible service.  We travel quite a bit and were surprised and the lact of service.  The rest of our visit to Cozumel we had excellent service and the people were kind.  Check out the view and get back in your car and go to Mezcalitos  awesome service, great fajitas.

Comments: This use to be my favorite east side spot to eat. I love the chicken nachos there. They use to be my absolute favorite nachos in the world. They use to be a heaping mound of delight. This time I ordered them and recieved eight chips. They were not even touching each other! It was a huge dissapointment. Not near the quality of past trips. I cannot speak of any other food they had because after that I did not try anything else. I would still recommend coconuts for the view. But if you are like me and loved the chicken nachos.....beware!

Comments: after the short climb to the top, coconut's view is worth the walk.  Here
you will find the friendliest staff on the island and great island music.
take time to down a few cold ones while standing on their cliff and looking at the view.  burgers are good and the salsa hits the spot.

Comments: WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW.......They have the best view on the island and the food........(I am having withdrawls already).......is outstanding. I am from Louisiana and i know good fresh seafood. The grilled shrimp and grilled grouper is awsome. It is one of my favroite places on the Island.
Drinks and lunch for two for under $25 and did I mention the view.
A trip to Cozumel and not vist the east side of the island and Coconuts is a sin. I can't wait to go back.
If you go ask to see the family album............

Thank Coconuts

Comments:  WENT TO COCONUTS ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE ISLAND, ON 12-20-01. THERE SPECIAL WAS GRILLED LOBSTER IN GARLIC BUTTER. MY HUSBAND AND MOTHER HAD THIS. IT WAS THE BEST LOBSTER THEY HAVE EVER HAD IN THERE LIVES. I HAD THE GRILLED SHRIMP IN GARLIC BUTTER, THIS WAS ALSO EXCELLENT. ONE OF THE BEST PLACES TO EAT ON THE ISLAND. THE MAI TAI'S WERE GOOD AND THE BEER ICE COLD.

Re: What is the name of the seafood place on the east side?

Best east side spot is Coconuts - only cliff side view on the island - great bar - great
food  - and everything is really clean including the bathrooms. Ask for Mike the ex pat who owns the place - he will show you a great time.
Best Regards
Pearl

Coconuts -- right next to the abandoned hotel -- offers a great view of the ocean. Their lunch isn't bad, either. Right next door is Playa Chen Rio, which has a sheltered cove -- swimming is almost always possible here, though twice I've seen a no-swimming sign. On Sundays, the locals bring their children here but normally a "crowd" might be 5 or 6 people. They serve a good fresh-fish lunch -- one order is a good snack for two. Just down the coast is Playa Bonita. The waves sometimes get big enough here to attract local surfers. I've always swum here, but be careful, because the current will pull you north, parallel to the shore. You can find yourself quite aways down if you're not paying attention. They also have a decent lunch menu.

Just a tip about renting a car -- when you go to gas it up, get out of the car IMMEDIATELY and watch the pump like a hawk. I hate to make generalizations, but we have been ripped off twice when getting gas at the new Pemex, and I just read another thread on another board relating the exact same thing about Pemex stations on the mainland. They either don't reset the pump when you pull up (so you pay for your gas and the person before you) or they reset it so fast when they're done, you don't know how much was pumped and they name their own price. If possible, I'd get out of the car, hand them X amount and watch them pump exactly that.
