Comments: After 5 years, Costa Brava is our "first night" dining place. We've
never been disappointed. This year was no exception! I'd post a picture of
the meal but don't know how on here.
Grouper for Dick and Giant Shrimp for me. Everything was great. I love their
stir-fried vegetables with jicama. These are hard working people that offer
you a nice atmosphere with good food and
, good service and of course great food.

Comments: We've been coming to Cozumel since 1987. Each time we are
there we eat at least one meal at Costa Brava. All I can say is that the
food is great and the service and price keep us coming back. The lobster
tail I had on this last trip was marvelous. The salsa is amazingly hot,
but sure tastes good.

As per the other reviews, this is a good place, nicely off the cruise ship
path for the most part. We enjoyed our two dinners here, did not feel as
though we were being as gouged as at some truly over-priced places in San
Miguel, and liked the atmosphere - open-air, not a really 'touristy' place
(although one hesitates to use the word 'authentic' about most things in this
part of Mexico). We ultimately chose La Choza as the restaurant we
wanted to return to for our 'last night dinner', but this would have been our
second choice. Another reviewer advises us not to be put off by the egg
dropped (mostly uncooked) into the garlic soup: I really liked the garlic
soup, but was unable to stomach the eggy parts, so my travelling companion had
to finish it off for me. And the salsa truly was the hottest we had - a
delicious, fresh chopped salsa that left my lips sizzling.

Comments: This is a great place for breakfast and lunch as well as dinner.
Food is always good, with great service. Just a half block off Melgeron Calle
7, and not a place easily found by the cruise ship tourists who swarm many of
the other restaurants during the day. Try the papaya juice in a large
container. I believe its addictive. They also have the hottest salsa (pico de
gallo) around.

Good food, liked the wait staff. However, we felt we got the cruise ship
tourist treatment. Was overcharged on drinks, they charged us $2 for bottles of
Pepsi, the highest that we paid on the island by far, same with out other
beverages. In fact, the menu in front listed the beverages at less. We felt
ripped off. The only other customers who were there were six underage teenagers
from one of the cruise ships who were totally loaded. They were grossly load and
using profanity that even offended me.

We've been steady customers of Costa Brava for breakfast. Two eggs,
tortillas, beans & rice, & coffee for under $2. Chips and good salsa
too. A couple of doors off Melgar on Calle 7 Sur (across the street from the
back of the post office).

Have ate at Costa Brava on Calle 7 Sur several times, Always very good, try
the Lime Soup- best on island IMHO, Have never tried Casa Brava on Rafael
Melgar.

This is from Brad and Kathleen from Fl. We have
been coming to Cozumel for 12 years. We eat at Costa Brava at least 4 out of
the 7 nights we are there. The Garlic Conch and garlic lobster is out of this
world.

This is absolutely one of my favorite places to eat.
Mostly because there aren't a bunch of tourists. Check out the garlic lobster.
The garlic soup is one of my favorite things (just don't think too much about
the egg that gets dropped in there.) All the soups are pretty good.
The thing that most impresses me about this place (and several others on
Cozumel) is when the wait staff remembers you from previous visits. I'm always
amazed that even though thousands of people must pass through the doors in
between my yearly visits, someone usually remembers me (and I'm not all that
remarkable!)

We ate at Costa Brava last December and really
enjoyed it. Lot's of good food for your money. The previous year we
ate there 2-3 nights a week. They are a nice family oriented place with
reasonable prices.

We have been going there for several years - once
durring a tropical depression they were the only place open! They are
inexpensive, but have good food - with a large breakfast menu. For other tips
and pictures see http://www.altinet.net/~basmith/

My son and I ate there last July. I had a
fried shrimp dinner that was very good and he had lobster which he enjoyed
thoroughly. Miguel was our waiter and he was excellent.
One of the things we liked about the place was that it was nearly 10:00 pm and
there were very few gringos in the place. The tables were mostly filled
with locals and family members(anyway they looked like family members.)
They had a guy playing keyboard and we had a videocamera. So he really
played it up for us. A guy who had been eating at one of the outside
tables came in and sang...trying to get a 7 year old boy to join in with him.
They really hammed it up. Then he grabbed a woman from his table and
they began to dance right in the entranceway. As they were dancing for our
videocamera, guys began to deliver food for the next morning. The couple
made an archway with their arms and the guys walked under carrying dozens of
eggs. It was a real hoot.
To say the least, it was a memorable evening and we enjoyed everything about the
place. I intend to go back. Some of the food was priced higher but
we found a deal...plus we had a coupon a friend had given us in La Ceiba's
lobby. It was for 10% off or something.
Costa Brava is a nice not too touristy place. I'm glad we ate there.
