Hi Jidan,

Sorry this has taken so long but we just wanted to thank you for the arrangements we enjoyed in Cozumel. May we suggest that the headboard be secured to avoid an accident. Jose Pedro Alonzo Alonzo was most helpful and obliging. He gave us a warm welcome and was always friendly and available if we had a question or needed advice. Our housekeeper was good and took care of our laundry promptly. I loved the pool and swam in it everyday. Once again, thank you!

Subject: Dec. trip to Villa Maya
Vacation Property: Villa Maya

Our ten person family trip to Cozumel at the Villa Maya (Dec 6-13, 2003) was the best ever. My wife and I have 13 years experience traveling throughout Mexico, and the time spent in Cozumel at the Villa Maya was # 1.

Louis and Isabella were the best hosts we could hope for. It was five star food service beautifully served and more than enough for everyone. The easy access to the reef in front of the Villa was excellant with daily sightings of rays, seahorses, eels and hundreds of different fish.

Next door to the Villa is the Coral Princess Hotel, we were welcome to go for food, drink or just to get a texi to go into town. Close by is a car rental, we rented two trackers to tour the Island and visit Chankanaab. The Villa is quiet and private even with the hotel and shops close by. We are definately planning a comeback with family .

Thanks for all your help and advice.

Comments: The Villa is bright, airy and spacious.  There are many places to take a quiet nap and under the palapa on the roof is the best spot, especially to watch the sunset.  The villa is a short walk to Paradise Beach which was friendly and buzzing with activity - after a morning and lunch on the beach, we would wander back to the villa for a peaceful afternoon snoozing or playing checkers.  The diving was amazing and the snorkeling was easy to get to, escpecially with youngsters.  The staff at the villa Jenny and Ambrosia, were really friendly and kept the villa clean and tidy, without intruding.  Our cook, Maria Louisa prepared lovely Mexican dishes for either dinner or lunch and wonderful breakfasts, always with more food than we could eat.  Her husband made the best guacamole we have ever tasted!  We were unlucky with the weather - two cloudy windy days, two rainy ones but were were able to sight see and shop and made the best of the cooking and the spaciouness of the villa.  However, when the sun came out it was awesome.  The food in the restaurants we tried was really good too.  Pepe's Grill was the best .  The Lobster Thermador at La Veranda was delicious.  The fish served at Pancos Backyard was very good too.  We would love to return and enjoy more of the scuba, lazy afternoons and wonderful food.

Comments: Excellent hotel for divers.
A bit noisy (noise from the permanent traffic on the road in front of the hotel), but excellent configuration and location for divers. All rooms have a view on the sea, nice sunsets, etc. The room is just a few meters from the dive center (Blue Angel), the pool and the beach/shore.
Special kuddo to Blue Angel. Very professionnal and knowledgeable.
Excellent equipment and divemasters (especially Ramon and Matt).
Always choose the smaller and faster boats !
They did all they could to accomodate all my requests (I am both an advanced diver and a photographer and therefore I always have particular requests). I also enjoyed very much the unlimited dives from the shore. The one-day Cenotes trip (Dos Ojos) with Matt was also an excellent experience. I look forward to visitig again in summer time to go with Alejandra ("the boss") to  Holbox to meet the whale sharks !

thank you so much

Las Brisas 201 was the best. Everyone was so nice: Fulvio, Hermann, and Lucy. We had a fabulous time. The pictures do not do this property justice. Las Brisas is truly a jewel. I will never stay in a hotel again!!!!!! Thank you for all your help and I will definitely be contacting you on our next adventure to Cozumel

Jidan,

Just wanted to let you know our trip was incredible! I will post a review on your site. Fulvio was great, the place was beautiful, the snorkeling amazing, and the weather perfect. Best vacation I ever had - we all had a blast. The only thing that went wrong was Avis said they were renting us a jeep but didn't have it ready so they'd drop it off at our place. Never happened - we went back later that day and some other people showed up who said they were told the same thing. We ended up lucking out with Executive car rental, so no big deal - just wanted to let you know. Everything else was perfect and wonderful. Thanks so much for all of your help - we all want to move to Cozumel now!

Hi Jidan. I just wanted to tell you how much we loved the Condumel. It was the perfect place for us and I would definitely recommend it to others. If we ever return to Cozumel we will certainly go back the the Condumel. It was luxurious for the money, the service was excellent, the location was just right for us, nice and quiet but not too far from things we wanted to do and the snorkeling right off of the property was as good as anywhere on the island. I wanted to thank you for recommending we stay there (originally I thought we may like to stay at another property but you suggested the Condumel instead). Cathy M.

Comments: My wife and I just got back home from our stay at Condumel. We were there a week for our honeymoon. We chose this place off the internet pics and reviews. Did we pick the right place!! The weather was very warm, the water was the perfect temp, great breeze blowing through our condo. We did follow the review advice about getting the condo on the bottom/end. The walk into town takes very little time. Lot's to see. Our favorite saying from the vendors there was "almost free". We talked with other tourists while there, and comparing notes, we picked the right place! Sara and her staff are more helpful than you can believe! Thank you Sara!! We're planning already to go back in 1-2 yrs and take freinds along with us. Muy Bonita!!!

Comments: This house worked well for what we wanted.  We're a family with 4 "children" ages 12-22.  We were  scuba diving so the lack of beach access wasn't an issue.  The pool was clean and good temperature but NO shade at or around the pool.  We were close enough to town that the young people could get a cheap taxi if they wanted to stay later than us old folks.  I don't think this would be a great property for young children.  The cooks were WONDERFUL.  What a delight to wake up to breakfast cooking and come home after diving and have a hot meal ready!  the house was pretty, the beds and bedrooms were comfortable.  There was a fair amount of street noise so sleeping with windows open, one of my favorite parts of warm, oceanside venues, wasn't feasible.  I have to put in a plug for our fabulous dive master, Scuba With Alison, www.scubawithalison.com.  we had a diverse group-ranging some just getting certified to  more experienced divers.  Some bold divers and others who were more cautious and even nervous.  EVERYONE had a great time.  Good service from the travelnotes recommended car rental, I think the name was Marlin.

Hi Alex and Jidan,

Just wanted to let you know that everything went extremely well during our week on Cozumel. The condo was exceptional. Marlin Rental (and Fulvio) really came through with a good vehical (with seatbelts) as we'd hoped/requested. Please express our thanks to Fulvio and Marlin for this. They dropped off and picked up very promptly as well. Cantamar #303 is a jewel. The people who own this unit are not only very lucky, but the extent they've gone to in decorating and theming this unit is unbelievable. The location to town is one of the best things about this place too and we loved our walks in the evening.

Thanks again for all your help. You are very responsive and thorough and it is a pleasure working with you. We are happy to serve as references if you'd like.

Comments: My husband and I were here for 1 week. You feel like you are in Mexico in this Mayen looking building. The rooms are spacious and bright with beautiful views and sunsets. There is no radio or TV so if you like quiet this is the place. Rooms were impecable. Walking distance from town. We did rent a car for 4 days, you will need this if you want to visit the island. Best place we found to eat was La Mission, cheap, excellent food and great pina-colada's, excellent service. It's between Calle 2 & 4, Ave 30, also Chen-Rio on the souther tip of the island was great. The best grocery store is on the south of downtown on the main road. Music and dancing in the Plaza on sunday evenings. Sara was waiting for us when we arrived and was very helpful in helping us find what we need. We definatly recommend this beautiful place, you won't regret it unless you want to be with the action.

Dear Jidan,

I wanted to let you know that we loved casa pequeno and especially our house-keeper Chipita. I would love to send her some pictures I made of her. Shall I just try to send it to the house, or do you have any idea how to get her private address? Also, Xavier and all the others at the office were so nice.

We were able to get a great rest on Cozumel. Thanks a lot for your help. If we want to go there again, I will contact you again.

Happy New Year. Take care. Marion.

Dear Jidan, October 29

Randy & I have returned last Saturday from Cozumel & Cantamar 202. Thank-you very, very much for the upgrade. It was wonderful on Cozumel & the condo was so convenient and comfortable. The washer/dryer worked great & was a big help to us. We never met Fulvio as he was back in Canada on vacation! His apprentice, Frederick was very helpful even though he had only been in Cozumel for 1 month.

Thanks again, Kathy & Randy

P.S. The map you sent us was wonderful, too---so much info!!

Many thanks,

Comments: June,09 2002. We stayed 10 days in Cantamar Condo's, 7nights in 201 and 3 nights in 303. Very nice experience in both. 201 was  a great location and had the overhang to keep the heat of the day and late afternoon off the porch. 303 was just redecorated in a fabulous Mexican flair. Both met our expections for quality, but 303 had a really nice artistic touch. We had a nice surprise when Fulvio met us at the airport, gave us the keys, and then  pointed us to a quick taxi. For the first week, we had Maria as a cook. We would highly recommend this option. Very cost effective and a great way to sample local dishes. Maria and her niece were outstanding cooks, and really made our breakfeast and dinner an experience. Always had more than we could eat. Even the kids polished off every morsal on thier plates. We all enjoyed the pool and snorkeling off the dock. Really surprised at the sealife all along the wall.  Luis and Sandra kept the grounds and condo in very nice shape and Selina the house security cat kept the place safe and sound.  This was the first time we stayed on this side of the island and we really like the proximity of  Cantamar from town. We also had the chance to go to the public beach at Playa Azul, very nice experience and great sand. We used Papa Hogs all week as our daughter obtained her diving certification, and even our 9 year old son was able to take advantage of a resort diving course so we all had one heck of a week on the reefs. Needless to say, Papa and his crew lived up to their reputation, excellent for all types of divers and snorklers. Took a nice break and went to the mainland to explore the ruins of Coba and Tulum. We rented a car in Playa and it was a very educational and fun day. If you have the time, we would recommend this trip. Walking into the jungle at COBA and then climbing the pyramid to the top where you are above the jungle is quite an experience. Then, on the way back, go to Tulum on the coast for a quick dip in the ocean on your hot afternoon  return.  I think we were thousands of years ago. We did use a guide in Coba which really helped us understand what we were seeing. Back on the island, we were dissappointed that Chakannaub has been raised to $10 per person and has turned into a commercialized outing. Almost like going to seaworld. I guess that's the price of tourism and cruise ships. Still very pretty grounds and snorkeling.  Due to our cook , we only dined at a few restaurents, but El Morro and Pancho's Backyard will see our return next year. The kids loved the location, feel, food and service at  El Morro.  As you can see, we did not have a very good time, we will have to try harder next year. Alex at Travelnotes, thanks for the one stop shopping. We will use you next time.

Comments:  Vacationed from March 16-23, 2002, with 10 adults aged 20-22.

We had an outstanding stay.  Cozumel is one of the most beautiful islands in the carribean, as compared to  Puerto Rico, Grand Cayman, Jamaica, and La Hispaniola....  the beaches are so isolated and gorgeous, prices are all very reasonable, and the island is not yet completely commercialized.

As for the Casa Jen, Aguila Rentals were very accommodating.  Our house manager, Xavier was soo friendly, very informative about all the sights, tours and attractions on the island, and always prompt about any problems that we reported.  Our house help... Addie... was wonderful... (we miss you addie)..  As for the pool, a guy came every other day to clean it up, although we couldn't understand him and the pool wasn't too too clean, it was acceptable.... we refilled the hot-tub with fresh water, and warmed it up with the solar cover everyday...... (fit 11 squished people in it !!)

Someone delivered drinking water everyday (without additional costs)? and when I approached Xavier about bringing home an oversized, rusty old restaurant sign, he volunteered to pack it himself!!!

Cozumel was very safe? I felt completely comfortable walking by myself at night? and the house is secure as well?. You get 4 sets of keys and a garage which is very useful for car rentals? (which cost about 30 dollars a day for very very crappy bugs)

There was a grocery store (Chadreau) a block away which had very reasonable prices? It takes about five minutes to walk to the downtown area, 5 minutes to the closes snorkeling area? although we rented a car to go to the nicer snorkeling areas and beaches.  The best beach we went to (completely isolated) with white sands was on the other side of the island? about 30-45 minute drive? When you?re in that area, definitely visit Coconuts? and the coral reef?.  This is very important so listen carefully --- there?s an amazing taco place called Seras where you can have a ?pastor? for 4 pesos (around 40 cents)?. It?s sooo good, but don?t eat there every night --- my friends got montezuma?s revenge and vowed never to go back there?.. but I loved it.  Bars ? the bar scene isn?t that happening in Cozumel unless you have a thing for 14, 15 year old girls? but it was fun anyway.  We went to Senor Frogs and Kiss my Cactus most of the time.  One night, we went to Cancun --  which was a hike?. It took an hour ferry ride, and an hour bus just to get there?. But if you wanna party, that?s where it is? we went to this place called La Boom where Jonathan Peters (??) was DJing?.  As for outings, my friends say the Tulum-Xel-ha tour was amazing.  As for me, I went to see Chitzen Itza which was a 3.5 hour drive (take a plane if you can)? it was really amazing since we happened to be there on the vernal equinox?..

The house is definitely enough to have a great time in?? We want to go back to Cozumel as soon as we can !!!!

Dear Alex,

We had a great vacation at the Villa Marvi.  Our maid and cook, Irma and Santiago, were excellent.  Jose Pedro was our house manager and was very helpful.  He said he was going to come by Friday morning for me to sign some papers before we left, but he did not get there before we had to leave for the airport.  If there is something I need to take care of, please let me know.

Thank you again for all your help.  It was a wonderful experience for our family.

From Mike F. on 04/13/02

Hi Alex:

Everything went great. The accomodations were excellent. We were very impressed with the property. We met some of the owner's of the condos in PDSII and got to see 3 or 4 of them. The most impressive was 6S and if your clients had a choice I would pick this one. The one we stayed in, 2S, was fine, don't get me wrong, but it was not furnished as nicely as some of the others.

One good thing about 2S is that you can walk to the pool area without using the elevator which was good for kids. You basically go down 2 small flights of stairs and your there which we found handy for the kids who were always going up and down.

We were met by the property managers as you indicated and they were quite helpful.

We did go drive by Santa Clara and we were quite glad that we did not stay there. We were much happier with with Puesta Del Sol II. I'm not sure what Santa Clara looked like on the inside but the outside did not impress us.

Anyhow, we are planning to return again next year around Easter which is April 20 so let me know about the process for booking. We booked rather late this time and did not have as many options so I would like to make sure I've got a good selection for next year.

Now that we know the island well we will have a much better idea on where to stay.

Thanks.

Alex,

We had an absolutely perfect family vacation assured by the caring attention given to our family by Isabella and Luis.  They more than anything else made this all that we had hoped for.  Isabella was a gourmet cook and Luis was at all times the gracious host and delightful to be with.  Wonderful meals together (11 with 5 small grandchildren) at the long dining room table were truly memorable. You are blessed to have this wonderful family in charge of Villa Maya.

Thanks,
Bob

Dear Alex and Travel Notes,

My family and I just want to thank you for your assistance in making arrangements for our stay in Cantamar #202 last week.  I realize it was short notice and you responded promptly to all our inquiries and questions.  The condo was wonderful and almost better than advertised.  Fulvio was great, the car rental worked out fine and Luis and Mimi kept the place spotless.  The weather was gorgeous and the snorkeling right outside our door was super. The only disappointment was having to leave!  (And the fact that Northwest Airlines managed to lose some of our luggage...thank goodness for Chedraui.)   We hope to return and will definitely consider booking through you again.  I'd be happy to serve as a reference too.

Thanks again,

Hi, Alex!!  I was going to e-mail you as soon as we got back and I haven't had time.  Thanks again for all of your help with everything.  We had a great time.  So, here's the review:

Airport pick up was perfect.  We got to the house and it was nice.  Not great, but it was nice.  The pool and outside sitting area was wonderful. We hung out there all the time.  The snorkeling in front of the house was the best part.  There is a 15 foot tall coral reef right in front of the house and the fish and reef were amazing.  We saw eels and sting rays and when we'd feed the fish, there would be about 200 of them that would come to the surface to eat.  There were these psychedelic crabs that would wander up on the rocks of the house.  We had a tarantula on our stairs one night that we had to jump over to get past.  (That was kind of cool in a gross way!!  At least we got to see one!!)  We really got to see a lot of amazing animals that we wouldn't have staying in a hotel.

Our maid was wonderful and she did a great job.  We liked all of the people very, very much.  When we got there, Christiana gave us the number of a car rental place that we went through and it worked out great.  They dropped the car off at our Villa and picked it up when we were done.  Very easy.

So, now the "not so great" parts.  The second night we were there we got ripped off when we were sleeping.  Someone came in and stole our video camera, my husbands beat up sandals and a bag my Mom had just bought.  So, that sucked.  We called Fulvio, but he said there wasn't much we could do about it.  (We did not have the front door locked.  Stupid.)  But, whatever, that happens on vacations.  The house could be really, really beautiful with a little work.  Probably 1/4 of the lightbulbs were burned out.  How strange.  We called Fulvio because the pool light and the light shining on the ocean were burned out too and we wanted them fixed.  He had someone come out to replace the ocean light, but the pool light never worked.  Seriously, a ton of light bulbs were burned out.  We just thought that was so weird.  In all seriousness though, that house could be absolutely amazing with a little TLC.  The light fixtures were crappy and there really weren't any plants or decoration on the walls, and no screens on the windows or doors.  It would have been nice to sleep with the doors open and hear the ocean.  It was still a really, really nice house though. The pool and  lounge area make the house.  Basically, you shouldn't be in the house anyway when you're on vacation!!!!  It was a lot cheaper staying in the house and buying groceries too.

Overall we had a great time.  The house was really nice, just not great. We plan to stay in a Villa again, so I'll be contacting you in about a year!!  (If we don't move down there first.  Ha ha!!!!)

Thank you again for your help with everything.  You were great.  I'll send you a picture when I get them all developed!!

Thanks, Alex.
Tera

Comments: Hello Alex and Jidan,

We returned on 2/14/02 from our first short stay on Cozumel.   We had a great(!) time and loved the Cantamar Condos.   #401 was a great deal for us and the other couple we went with.   We loved the views from the two upstairs, oceanfront bedrooms and the spacious room for us to spread out and relax.  It was just what we needed.

Fulvio was kind and responded immediately to a couple of problems we had (the clothes dryer broke its belt....  :-).

We enjoyed talking with the other guests and really enjoyed the small size of the complex.

BTW, before we went to Cozumel, someone mentioned a problem with the pool next door being dirty and filled with flies.   This was not(!) the case.   The complex next store is now the Suites Turquesas and is clean and tidy.   No problems with bugs at all!

Carnival was hopping when we arrived and we were able to experience some of the celebrations on Fat Tuesday as well.    We are not too into the "party scene" but it was very interesting to watch the local people celebrate, especially the young children.

The fresh water pool was rather brisk, but we did not need to use it since we spent most of our time in the water right off the dock.   Snorkeling was very good up and down the coast from the condos.

Let me also give a couple of restaurant recommendations:

La Choza - Excellent (first night, we ate so much guacamole....)
Casa Denis - Excellent  (try their fajitas !!)
El Capi Navegante - Excellent (their fresh grouper was awesome!)
Jeanie's Waffle House - Very Good, but a little expensive and right on the main avenue, so rather busy.

I think there was one other, but can't remember right now.

Anyway, just a big thank you for your help.   We will definitely be going back to Cozumel, and will stay in the Cantamar Condos again!

Regards,

Bruce DeYoung

My family stayed at the Villa El Dorado for 8 days and found it to be an extraordinary place to vacation. The villa has four bedrooms, large living room, dining area, kitchen. Pool with Palapa overlooking the beach. A gate separates you from the beach, a nice beach, however swimming was best next door at El Cozumeleno. The villa has bottled water provided, daily maid service, pool grounds maintenance. Hot water (which I see is a problem at some places)was never a problem. A very relaxing place to stay. The villa is about 5 miles from town, taxis are available right in front as they que up for El Coz guests. I found the villa right here on travel notes and cant thank them enough for there spot on reviews/information of Cozumel.

Alex, thanks for your help. We enjoyed the condo very much! Can't wait to go back. I was wondering if you could help with something else. I took a very cute photo of Fulvio's daughter, Carrie. I would like to send them a copy. Can you give me an address?

Hello Jidan!

We just got back from Cozumel a few days ago and everything went great! Cantamar Condos are perfect and we will use them next time we go. Fernando of Manta Raya Divers was also great. The best dive operation I've been with.

What do I need to do to post a few reviews of my trip like my accomodations, dive operator, and restaurants? I'd love to post some.

Ashley

Hi Jidan,

Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our vacation in Cozumel.

As for the unit itself, it was very nice. Great views and beautifully furnished! We enjoyed the location close to town and especially the snorkeling in front of the condo. We went every day, several times a day, and LOVED it so much! I could not believe how beautiful the coral heads and rock formations were. We saw many different types of sea life, including an octopus, parrot fish, blue tangs, star fish, hog fish, toad fish, small stingrays, and LOTS of eels hiding in their dens. The water was incredible clear and enjoyable! We snorkeled at Dzul Ha and in front of the La Ceiba hotel, but loved our place most of all! My sons also enjoyed diving off of the dock! It was really just perfect for us.

We truly enjoyed our first visit to Cozumel. The people are so friendly and polite, even though we do not speak Spanish very well, we still managed to communicate. All of the food we ate was delicious! Also, the map you sent of the island was excellent! We hope to come back next year and stay at the Cantamar again. Thank you so much for making our vacation so special! It was a pleasure to work with you and TravelNotes.

Thank you,

Hi Jidan,
We had a wonderful vacation in Cozumel! Everything lived up to or exceeded our expectations. We thoroughly enjoyed Cantamar 101. It was absolutely perfect for us and completely comfortable. With its excellent location and comfort, we felt like we had the best deal on the island! Your tip to rent 101 rather than 302? was right on. We really enjoyed the access to the pool and ocean from 101 and not having the overhang from the above unit would have made 302 too hot. Climbing the stairs every time you come and go also would have gotten old. Thank you so much! We checked out Puesta del Sol which also was very nice, but the big plus for Cantamar was the easy walk to town. We met Fulvio who was a very nice and helpful gentleman. He is a real asset and speaks very highly of you.

All the food was great just as you said. Papa Hogs was good and we enjoyed diving with Raoul and Enrique. Didn't see much of Margaret or her husband. Dealt with Jorge most of the time. We were a little disappointed with Margaret's husband when he wouldn't refund the money for my son's diving on one day when he wasn't feeling well with a sore throat and tonsils.  So that cost an extra $60. Other than that the diving was great. I might try another dive operation next time.

So thank you so very much for everything! We hope to return to Cozumel and Cantamar. Your responsiveness and professionalism is outstanding and we will definitely recommend you to others. If I may be of service to you for any recommendations, please don't hesitate to have your customers contact me. We look forward to doing business with you again. Please keep us advised of any news or good spots/deals. Thanks again.

Dear Jidan,
We had a fun vacation at El Delfin. The property worked well for our group. Our group consists of several guys who like fishing and scuba diving and vacation together at different places thought the year. In Cozumel our group has been as large as 10 and as small as 2.

Please feel free to send me any additional information and please advise me of any specials.

Thanks,
