Subject: Tucan Sailing Adventure Tours

Comments: This made our 7th trip to Cozumel and we thought we had done most everything on the island. We found Cozumel Sailing  through  Travelnotes and booked online with Dan and Karen. They were VERY prompt with their email replies (which was only the beginning of their wonderful friendly service!) At the beginning of our week, we did their sunset cruise and it was so AWESOME  that we booked the 6 hour day trip later in the week! The staff was excellent, and Juan by far makes the best fajitas on the island.( We consumed all the food and drinks anyone would want.) Add to the food and drinks the snorkeling, dinghy ride to the deserted beach and the spinnaker sailing made it all well worth the money on this excursion. This was the best time and money we ever spent in the land of Coz! Thanks Dan, Karen and Staff. See you next year!

Subject: Tucan Sailing Adventure Tours

Comments: We had the PLEASURE of reserving the Tucan for a day in February 2004.  I am writing this comment because this trip exceeded our expectations in every way!!!  The only thing that was not in our favor was the wind.  The wind was from the north and quite strong, but Captain Dan expertly guided us throughout the day.   We are cruisers that like to get away from the crowds and to do things on our own without 100 other people!  We sure found the best with this day!  ?Skippy? Karen was so much fun to talk with, and we wish her and her family the best through your life?s adventure.

There were 8 adults and 4 children and we privately reserved the Tucan.  The grandchildren were ages 6 to 2 and I will not tell the ages of the adults.  I asked one of the grandchildren  what she liked the best about the week cruise and her instant response was SAILING and seeing the dolphins!  Thanks again Captain Dan for turning around and seeing if we could find them!  It is something that this child will NEVER forget.  Something that this adult will never forget is ?Spinnaker Sailing.?   When the wind catches the sail and you are lifted in the air it is the most awesome feeling!

The food was the best.  First Mate Juan filled our tummy with the best food!  It was amazing to watch him prepare all this on the Tucan!  Was the best pico de gallo and guacamole that we ever tasted.
Everything that was prepared was fantastic!!

We were treated so well and felt very safe under their guidance.  I would recommend this trip as everything that was stated on the net we experienced.  If you want to try something on your own rather than going with the ?cruise director? you will not be disappointed with this ?adventure?

Subject: Dune Buggy Tours

Comments: We just returned from Cozumel and the dune buggy tour was awesome.  We were picked up right at our hotel at 10:00 and didn't return until 5:00.   Omar was a great guide.  He provided us with great snorkeling, lunch, and stops along the way to point out the wildlife.

My husband is not one to sit on the beach and soak up the sun.  This tour catered to his sense of adventure and activity level.  We highly recommend this trip to anyone visiting the island.

Subject: Snorkel the Reefs

Comments: I just booked a trip and was very impressed with the response.  I had a few questions before booking so I emailed the company.  I received a response the very next day that answered all of my questions.  when I made the reservation, I inadvertantly booked the trip for one person.  when I received the confirmation back I emailed the company again regarding my error.  Jidan, the representative, wrote back immediately and said he figured it was for two people and had already changed it.  Although I have not taken the tour yet, I am already impressed with them!!!

Thank you Jidan! We did have a wonderful and memorable time! Eduardo was a  gentleman and was very professional. I never snorkeled before but felt that maybe he went over and above the norm for trying to make sure we had a good experience. The only thing that was missing was beach time that the tour was supposed to include but it felt awkward to ask for it because we knew that they would just be sitting there waiting for us while we laid on the beach.  Anyway, I will do my best to recommend Travelnotes and Cozumel Sports with my travel agent sister-in-law and on the web. Thanks for the follow-up too!

Regards,

Debra

Subject: Jungle Jeep Tour

Comments: I just wanted to say THANK YOU! We reserved the Jungle Jeep Tour via the internet even though we took a cruise to Cozumel and could have unfortunately there was an life threatening emergency that required surgery.  The ship had to turn around and head towards New Orleans so the person and family could be airlifted to the hospital.   We were informed late morning the day before the original arrival to Cozumel that we would be turning back and would be delayed in arriving to Cozumel.  I immediately contacted your company to cancel but got an answering machine so I was not sure if the message I left was to the right place or not.   I arrived home and checked my email and found that you had responded and credited my deposit.  Thank you!!

We ended up with another tour via the ship but it was awful and we were terribly disappointed.  I feel we missed a good time but when we go next time it will be via plane not ship. Cruise was okay but not for us.

Thanks again!!

Subject: Dune Buggy Tours

Comments: We just got back from Cozumel, and would like to share our experience with (Tarzan) Dune Buggy Tours.  GREAT!  We caught a taxi from the pier when our ship docked.  It was $6.00 total for the six of us to get to Dune Buggy Tours.  We arrived early and checked in, then went shopping for an hour, (due to the time difference).  There were many shops, just 1/2 block away (including Carlos & Charley's).  We were greeted by Fillippe and Antonio.  Fillippee began to show his sense of humor from the start.  Anyone have to go to the banio (bathroom), cause we have lots of beer and drinks.  Yes, it is legal to drink and drive in Mexico!  We were given our scuba geer, and loaded up in the buggys.

We drove through town, and what an experience that was.  The roads are paved, but narrow, and filled with Taxi's.  We drove for about 30 minutes, taking in the true Cozumel culture.  It definately made my 15 year old daughter realize how lucky she truly was.  The street vendors are on every corner.
We reached a curve in the road and it was off-road time.  The road turned into dirt, and rocks!  How fun to go 30 mph on unpaved trail.  We hit the curves, turns, and dips holding on to the frame of the buggy.  My son learned to car-surf, standing up in the back of the buggy, holding on for dear life, and ducking with each branch.

After about another hour, we came to a small overgrown stretch of road, and heard the woman in the buggy in front of us scream.  We cautiously proceeded, to find Antonio hiding in the bushes with a stick (which resembled a cobra snake).  Everyone screamed, then laughed.  We stopped at a very rustic place for drinks.  Rustic is an understatement.  It was a two room concrete block building with one room being a make-shift kitchen, and one a bathroom.  The door was falling off the hinges, and to every woman's horror there was no toilet seat!  After a few Mexican beers, you learn to squat!  The gentleman who greeted us, was very cool, cutting coconuts with a machetti and offering us a taste of coconut juice.

We loaded back up in the buggys to the ruins.  We had to climb up on to the ruins, but it was an awsome view of the clear blue ocean.  After a brief history of the castle, and the Myian history, it was back on the road.  It had rained earlier that morning, so we had a blast hitting a few creeks with water.  Definetly expect to get dirty & muddy, as the buggies have drain holes in the floorboards.

We got to a gourgeous beach, and prepared to scuba dive.  The reef was about 40 yards out.  Unfortunately, my 15 year old daughter got spooked after seeing her first two fish swim underneath her, and announced "I don't thinks so!"  We waved goodbye to the rest of the group (about 8 total people) and returned to the shore to play in the 3 foot waves.  Upon return, my sons (22 & 16) raved about the reef, stingrays and fish.  Underwater disposable camera captured what we missed.

Lunch according to Fillippe was Iguana (tastes like chicken).  His sense of humor with my apprehensive daughter was funny.  After swearing it really was chicken, we ate lunch.  Best chicken ever.  Also had chips, guacmoli, tomatoe salsa, lettuce, etc.  Pepsi, bottled waterand more Mexican beer.

We loaded up and headed home about 4pm.  I can't say enough about the beauty of the sites.  If you want an unconventional tour it is definetly the way to go.  Many of our ship friends took the jeep tours, and the groups were so big, they felt commercialized.  Not us, we had a great time.  Don't forget the sunscreen.

Hi Jidan,

I wanted to let you know that my husband and I had an exceptional time in Cozumel last Monday 9/15. Eduardo at Cozumel Sports was the greatest and the beach club was superb.

We are going to plan our next vacation in Cozumel.

Thanks so much.

Comments: My family of four (ages 46,47,16 and 19) wanted to go on the dune buggy tour as a shore excursion from our cruise ship, the Carnival Conquest.  It looked like we were going to be getting into Cozumel too late to make the 10:30 tour time, so Tarzan Tours accomodated us by allowing us to go at 12:00 instead.   We arrived at 11:15 and we were able to start the tour early - 11:30.  They promised to have us back in time to get back on board by 5:30,  and they did!   Very accomodating!  We really appreciated this type of personalized service.  You don't get that when you book a tour from your ship with a hundred other people.

We started out driving these really cool dune buggies through town and then out into the wilderness.  The road we took was very rough - perfect for this type of vehicle!  It was a blast!  We saw 2 ruins along the way and our guide gave us a brief education on their origin.  Mid way through the trip we stopped for lunch and to enjoy the beach for a while.  The weather was windy, so the sea was too rough for snorkeling.  It didn't matter, though, as we jumped waves and swam while our guides prepared lunch for us.  Lunch was great as we ate it sitting beneath a beautiful palm tree while the ocean surf created a great view.  The barbecue was really good, by the way!

Driving back was just as much fun and we ended the tour by all agreeing that this was by far the best shore trip we had on the cruise.  Thanks to Tarzan tours for personalizing our trip and giving us a great memory!

I hope you got the email that I sent today, if not drop me a line because I cannot say enough about how great Papa Hoggs was!! We had also taken a snorkeling trip in Key West that we booked through the ship line and it was a joke! Nothing can compare to the one we booked with you. I will have those memories forever! Thank you!!!

Thanks for making arrangement for us in cozmel. Horseback riding was a great time with martina as a guide. We also got two dives with papa hogs. The one thing we did not get was a dive shirt from michelle dive shop. I will try to contact the shop and have a couple sent . If you can help this would be great and we will talk to you next time we get to cozmel.

THANKS Mike and the family of 7

Hey Jidan,

I was going through my emails and found the travel notes email from before my family's trip to Cozumel and thought I should let you know about our trip. It was great. Your people at Papa Hogs were great. The surf was high the day of our trip but they adapted the trip to compensate. They even found a spot where they fed the fish around our kids,  creating a tropical feeding frenzy as we snorkeled. My kids and I will remember that for a life time.

FYI: The entire trip was great. (Once we got there. The airlines are a pain) Our 4 kids love to snorkel but had never been in the tropics. The trip we took was a Christmas present. They were surprised with the trip on Christmas day and we left by that Saturday. For a normal working class family, it was a stretch. But it was worth every dime.

Our original flight was delayed for a day. This was a temporary disappointment but we received enough credit towards another trip that my son and I are going back to Cozumel to learn to scuba dive. I might be calling to you again.

Thanks and thank the great people at Papa Hoggs for us.

Mike

Comments: Travelnotes,

We just wanted to thank you and Albatros Charters for making our day in Cozumel. Pedro & Antonio took us out on Wed. 28th Aug. My husband had been watching the fishing reports prior to our arrival and we both had decided that we would just be happy to have the experience of deep sea fishing even if we didn't catch much. We spent approx. 4 hours fishing and had a great
day, catching an unbelievable 90# sail fish (the highlight of our entire vacation), along with tuna, king fish, & mackerel. All the catches were beyond explanation to reel in. I can't say enough in regards to Pedro, Antonio, and Albatros Charters. Antonio went above and beyond to make us happy, bait our lines, offer us drinks, serve us fresh pineapple, and even make us quesadillas.
The day was worth every penny and we couldn't wait to get back on the cruise ship and home to brag about our catch. Thanks again for a wonderful time!! Many thanks from Nebraska!

Comments: The tour was expertly handeled and arranged. We arrived early and they went ahead and gave us our gear and let us snorkel in the bay while we were awating the arrival of the tour boat. We were a group of five with three being teens. The guides were fantastic and asked what we would like to see. After visiting some great reefs they took us into shallower water where we could do a lot of up close looking at the marine life. The guides were also in the water with us and were very attentive to everything that was going on around us as far as currents and tide movements. They also helped to point out some fascinating fish and showed us how to feed them which resulted in some great pictures !!!

Highly recomend this tour and all the great support from travelnotes !!!

Comments: What can be said after reading all the other reviews. Papa lived up to it's reputation. Excellent, professional, easy to deal with, flexible. Our 14 year old obtained her open water certification. I was a little concerned that her first boat dives might be too aggressive but Margaret does  a nice job of keeping the experience on the boat similar. Nothing but praise for Raul, who worked with my daughter all week as she built her confidence in overcoming ear problems. And they would also give her some good advice after the dive, something a father or mother could never do or at least she would never listen to.   Mike also gave our young son a resort course and we hired Julie as a dive master for him as we all did Columbia Shallows and the top of the Gardens. What a bonus couple of days!! 2 nurse sharks, turtles, groupers and some lobster. Not too bad for a couple of kids getting thier first scuba experience.  I got in a good 12 dives with a nice variety of walls and reefs. These guys were always asking where do we wanted to go.Real professional and saftey minded.   We 'll be back with Papa when we return. A big thanks to Mike, Margaret, Raul, Julie and Toni...you really made our week...The Vasko Family, Evergreen Colorado

Comments: Tour booked through Travelnotes was executed flawlessly. Tour operator, Gail Ralston, a New Jersey expatriate, runs Aventuras Naturales, a small, family oriented operation in a commendable, professional manner. Daughter, Heather Ferriol, his general manager and chief tour guide/jeep driver, knows the area and the language, both Spanish and the local Mayan dialect. The tour is not for the faint of heart or for anyone with a tender behind. Half the area covered traverses a roadway comprised of sand and mellon sized boulders - a Jeep is barely adequate to the task, a Humvee would be better. Heather and companion driver, Renee, both know the road, the scrub jungle and its wildlife, and the two Mayan ruins visited during the tour. Heather provides a light breakfast (delicious croissants) a BBQ chicken lunch with rice, salsa, corn tortillas and beer/soda/water, plus a dip in azure blue water. She can also provide snorkle gear for those who would explore a coral reef about 200 meters off shore. As bonus extras, we also visited (1) a coconut plantation, whose Mayan overseer opened several nuts for us to sample the nutmeat and cocunut water, plus an explanation as to how the place operates, rendered in Mayan, translated by Heather; and (2) a Mexican army outpost responsible for patrolling the northeastern coast as part of the country's drug interdiction program. Along the way we spotted numerous iguanas, gekkos, turkey buzzards, frigate birds, herons, and more. The tour lasts about six hours and ends with a quickie run through Cozumel city environs. All in all, it far surpasses the jeep tour offered by the cruise ship in all respects, and comes in more than 10% below cruise ship's price. Add to that the personalized attention (just the four in our group in two jeeps) from a couple of very knowledgeable and sincerely friendly guides, and one would wonder why anyone might rather deal with the impersonal, cattle call operation run by a cruise ship.

Comments: We had an excellent snorkeling experience.   In choosing Papa Hogs, we corresponded with email (Travelnotes) and they promptly answered all our questions.  We were picked up from the Reef Club Pier.

In consideration of the high waves, the crew chose 3 reefs that would be best for us that day. .  They also considered our experience and requests.  They had a special solution to keep our masks from fogging---a real plus.  We were accompanied by a wonderful guide who gave us suggestions on using our equipment and getting the most out of the experience. .   Water and soft drinks were very nice.    The waves were no problem and the water was pristine.  Very good choice.

We are keeping their web site and 800 number handy and hoping that it won't be long before our next excursion.

Subject: Fishing Coz 4-12-02

Comments: For all those wanting to go deep sea fishing in Cozumel
My staff and I went fishing April 12, 2002 and did we have fun.  We caught a trophy Wahoo, a Dorado, a Rainbow fish, 4 nice Barracuda, and lost a couple of good ones.   When Capt. Pedro called in to check what the other boats had caught at noon, this was the report – 2 small tuna, and 1 small barracuda.  We did very well, and had a delicious hot lunch of fresh Dorado Soft Tacos and cheese.  All I can say is this, you will never find two guys that will work as hard to make sure you are catching fish, and having a good time.  There was plenty of bait, plenty of food, plenty of refreshments, and plenty of catching fish.  The boat was clean, and well maintained.  Pedro and Antonio(1st mate), were very friendly and took great care of us.  So if you want to catch fish, be treated great, and have a wonderful time, you should call Albatros Charters.  They are the best.

They led us up the "road" to a beach where we snorkeled and ate a great chicken lunch before heading back to town.  The tour lasted around 5 hrs.  From what I saw with the other tour,  I think we made a great choice. Small in size,  relative comfort in a Jeep (the road is REALLY rough), and excellent guides all combined to make for  a great day! Our family would aabsolutely recommend them for a jungle trip.

Comments: Thank You Heather, Renee, Shane and not to forget Richard..........
Jungle Jeep tours is everything and even more than what people have been posting for the last two years. It's fun, they make it exciting, and by the end of the trip their like family. The croissants were better than great and I can still taste the chicken fajitas, not to foget the cervesas.
We booked through Travelnotes and received comfirmation and numbers to call once on the Island. We were even contacted before the trip by Travelnotes because a large cruiseship group had booked the same day.

They were concerned and asked if we wished to switch days for a more private tour. Talk about service!!! We appreciated her call but stayed with our original date. Part of the fun of vacationing is meeting new people you might not have an opportunity to meet otherwise. Boy, were we glad. They turned out to be 2 from our home state besides us,13 from Myrtle Beach on the east coast and 3 guides; Heather, Renee and Shane (They normally go out with no more than 5 Jeep's). We stopped at 2 Mayan ruins, had lunch on the beach where we also could snorkled. It was all to relaxed and we didn't want to go back to civilization as we know it. Dropped off at your hotel or where needed. A feeling of "I'll see you next year". What more can I say IT WAS GREAT!!!
Thank You Richard for a wondereful concept. Thanks for the great recommendations on one restaurant in particular. Your name got us in the door. Thanks again "See you next year. We've booked 2 weeks.

P.S. Isn't that a picture of me on your tour site from only 6 weeks ago???

Re: Horseback Riding Tour

Just got back from my trip. I enjoyed our guide very much and would like to be sure and send a thank you about him. I do forget his name. The overall tour and the horses left a little to be desired but still offered an affordable different thing to do while in Mexico

We went on our jeep tour on 10/3/01, so this is a little late!  My best friend Cindy and I were on a Western Caribbean cruise and Cozumel was one of the stops (ended up being our favorite!!!!)  We'd seen reviews on the jeep tour, and knew that's exactly what we wanted to do.  It rained most of the time we were on our tour, but that didn't matter, it was so much fun!  We arrived at the island at about 8:30am, so we had an hour and a half before the girls would pick us up.  We did a little shopping and stopped to have a drink.  At 10am Julie was at the Noname Bar to pick us up.  We went and got in the jeep to wait for the rest of the group.  Once Heather got there, we were off.  Julie was driving our jeep and a lady (Don't remember her name) from another group was in the front seat and Cindy and I were in the back. We drove into town and they picked up the famous chicken and we were ready to go!  We drove down to this dirt road that goes into the jungle.  It was great!  Those girls really know how do drive off-road!  It was fast and bumpy, but so real!  We stopped at two of the Mayan Ruins.  Heather knows so much about the Mayan history, she was so informative.  At the second ruin, we stopped and ate lunch right inside of it.  The lunch was great!  We made our own fajitas with the chicken.  I loved it!  After lunch, we drove further into the jungle to our next stop...SNORKELING!  Snorkeling was Julie's department.  She scuba dives and knows alot about the reefs, fish and sharks.  She would dive down to point out the fish and different animals, so we could take pictures.  While we were out, it started storming, so we had to swim back to shore.  The ride back was nice, we drove right along side the shore....BEAUTIFUL!!!!  I recommend this jeep tour to anyone going to Cozumel.  It was so much more fun that the boring, stick to the schedule cruise excursions.  The girls are so good at what they do, and they made sure that everyone on the trip had a good time.  On my next vacation, I'm not taking a cruise, I'm going to Cozumel!!!  THANKS HEATHER AND JULIE!!!

We just returned from Coz and planned the jungle jeep tour for the first full day. A call in the morning from Gail confirmed our trip and Renee picked us up at our hotel promptly at 10. As we got to know our guide, she cheerfully pointed out spots of interest including the Pee Pee Station (yes, you read right). Anyway, we hit the jungle trail and the fun began! We bounced and laughed and Renee was quick to point out the iguanas sunning on the rocks. We stopped at several interesting ruins and a ceynote (ask Renee about the fierce snake stick!) We ate warm, melt-in-your-mouth croissants and drank cold cervesas. We stopped at a beautiful beach and spent and hour snorkeling on a georgeous reef. Then lunch was served. It was wonderful! I had emailed ahead about being a vegetarian and Gail had added black beans and rice to the chicken and tortillas. We had black bean dip, chips and onions marinated in lime. Yum. It was the most fun I've had in years. We can't wait to return to Coz and spend time bouncing around with Renee. She made the day perfect and personal. This trip is a must-do!!

We had booked a jeep tour for 09/02/01.  Our guide Renee met us up from the guard shack after leaving our cruise ship and figuring out how to use the weird phones there.  We went deep into the jungle and saw many interesting things.  We couldn't believe all of the iguanas in the jungle lying around on the rocks. We saw two small ruins and stopped at the beach to swim and comb for shells.  The lunch she provided was awesome.  We would highly recommend this tour as it was personable and designed to fit our schedules. Renee was very informative and knowledgeable about the area.  We will definately look her up again for more
adventures in the future.  Hats off to you Renee!!!!

Our office made a huge goal, so as a bonus we took the employee's on a vacation. The cruise was suppose to be the highlight and the Jungle jeep tour was something to do in Cozumel while we were docked. The Jungle Jeep Tour is what everyone is still talking about. First how nice and knowledgeable both Heather and Renee are. Second the Jeep ride (no words to explain this). Third and last the gorgeous private beach (we did not see another soul). One of the best things about this tour is that they will customize it to your group, we had to be back on the ship by 4pm and we wanted to pick-up a few things in town, so they made sure to have us back in plenty of time. I can not say enough good about this tour. We have already recommended it to many friends, including one that will be there in Sept. We are all working hard already to meet our next goal so that we may come again next year.

Thanks for the great memories

P.S. The food was excellent, from the rolls in the morning to the mouth watering chicken at lunch.
