Cozumel Island Guides : Taxi Fares

Tip: Always ask the taxi driver "How much?" BEFORE getting into the cab. This will help ensure you don't pay too much. The best way to guage rates is it's about $1 per KM (~0.62 Miles).

• Rates and schedules are subject to change without notice and this page is for information purposes only. 
• Since the exchange rate varies daily, all fares are listed in US dollars, are approximate and should be used as guidelines when checking fares with drivers.
• All rates are based on 1-2 people. Additional passengers will cost additional. 
• Although the taxi rates are regulated, you may find some variance in price when paying in pesos or dollars. Always ask or negotiate price before getting in the taxi.
• If you request a taxi van, you will be charged the price of 2 taxis plus $2 USD. If the van is next in line and you put no more than 4 passengers, the price is the same as a taxi.
• "El Centro" is downtown or the city center.
• "Playa" mean beach.
• When downtown along the main coastal road, you must take the taxi at the beginning of the line at the taxi stand on the west side of the road.

The rates will be very similar to taxi rates from El Centro (Downtown) - add about $0-$2 USD. 

From the (TMM) International Pier and Puerta Maya Pier

To the Airport

Airport Transfers - Regulated

Taxis are not allowed to pick up passengers at the airport but if your group is traveling light and wishes to walk 200 yards, just can follow the service road to the traffic circle just outside the airport. You can catch cabs there for much less than half the price of an airport transfer van. Car rental is also available at the airport.  Currently Avis and Executive are at the airport.
