Puerto Morelos

Posted by ScubaJim on November 18, 1999

Puerto Morelos is about 25 to 30 miles closer to Cancun than Playa de Carmen

To get there from Cozumel, take the ferry to Playa and catch either a taxi for about $10-15 or the bus for about $2. Puerto Morelos is about 25 to 30 miles north of Playa. Puerto Morelos is a laid back little town where the car ferry docks and departs from / to Cozumel. IT has a few nice restaurants and hotels, one fair size grocery store and a couple of really small ones. Some snorkelling can be done from the beach there, although not that great. If you're looking for a place to relax and hardly any tourist to speak of it would be a good start. For any more info just ask. Hope this helps.
