Comments: We left Austin july 26 for a short 3 day trip without children and to enjoy. We left at 4:30pm and arrived without a hitch and waited in line to get into the airport and pass all the inspections. We got on a van and it took us to the middle of town to the Hotel Meson San Miguel. We had to walk about a block up the square to our hotel. We wanted something non touristy and this was it. Right in the middle of town We got to our room 3 floor overlooking the pool and we could see the ocean. Nice clean room nothing fancy. We went to eat at Palmeras and as usual husband and i ordered the same food. Fish with some kind of sauce that was great and veggies. After eating we walked the streets and watched the locals hang out.  We went to bed and had to get up early as we were taking a Jungle Jeep tour. We ate breakfast at Plaza Leza had some type of eggs. We then walked and waited in front of Plameras for our Jeep to arrive at 9:45am. Sure enough our guide Rene pulled up and we
were off to the jungle.  We drove out o tow
town onto a dirty road and my husband was saying how he loved to 4 wheel drive. Well Rene let him drive and she sat in the front with me in the back we went to two Mayan ruins and at the first one i slipped off some rocks getting off and cut my kneee and bruised my leg. So be very carefull. We passed some other jeep and also dune buggy riders. We got to the second ruin and looked and turned around and headed back and then found a beach and snorkled and ate a wonderful lunch of chicken and rice. Husband got to continue driving and had a blast as for me i was in the back getting all the bumps and hits from the road if you can call it that. We got back about 4 pm and had to take a nap as it was hot and very tiring.  We ate dinner at Casa Denis . I had Snapper and husband had another fish and it was wonderful. We again walked the streets off cozumel and then had coffee next door to Plaza Leza and watched the tourist and locals. By then it was nearly 10pm headed back to our cool r
oom.  Sunday we got up and sat outtside for a bit and drank coffee as we brought our traveling coffee pot. Then we walked to the Museum and ate breakfast. It was great waffles and fruit , a little hot outside but very nice. Then we toured the museum for 3.00 each and it was very interesting learning things about mexico and cozumel that we did not know.   Then we walked out of the museum and walked for blocks and blocks to the very inner of cozumel.. We walked in that heat for about two hours and headed back to our hotel.  Took a nap and then headed down to Sonara Grill. I had shrimp and husband had some mexican dish that he was not sure he would have it again.  Then we thought we needed to walk this food off and we walked again and ended up at the local cemetery. Very interesting never been in one in Mexico. As we could tell very old too and you could tell rich from poor .  We then walked to the mall for the bathroom which had a/c and spent about 5 minutes there enjoying the
air. We had to head to Carlos and charlies and buy the T-shirts for our kids. Walked back to the hotel and rested. At about 7pm went to the square and sat and watched the locals get ready for the night. At 8pm the band started to play and husband and i along with others got up and danced. At about 9pm it got breezy and guess what it started to rain. We head to the local coffee shop next to Plaza Leza while the band played on. Headed back to the room at 10pm and to bed.  Monday got up packed and headed to Palmeras for breakfast and then to the airport. All and all we had a very relaxing vacation with some real mexican life staying in the middle of town.  Thanks to Travelnotes i had a list of hotels, resturants and things to do ..
