Comments: Arrived on Coz on July 3rd, 2002, just after noon. Flights were on Continental and went off without a hitch. The Coz airport is going through much needed renovations. We grabbed our taxi and headed to Plaza Las Glorias. We checked at the desk without delay and were in the room by 1PM. The room, 437, was to the north end with a great view both to the north and south. The room was well ekpt, with a small frig and sink. The bed was the normal hard as a rock Coz mattress. We checked in with the dive shop, Dive Paradaise, and grabbed a tank to get warmed up. Made a nice dive in front of Barracuda, saw several eels and a junevile drum. Headed back and went over to Primas for dinner. I had lobster tail and my wife had the stuff shrimp. Both were excellant. Bill was around $45. The next day we dove on Santa Rosa Wall and Las Palmas reef. Excellant vis but the big fish were missing. That night we went to Captain Navigente for dinner. I had the conch and my wife had the fish of the day. Very good but noisey. The next day we dove on Palancar Caves and Punta Tunich. Again, great vis but no biggies. It was nice to see our old friend, Jose' Chale, a divemaster with DP. We headed over to French Quarter and had an excellant dinner. I had the red snapper and my wife had the Mihi-Mihi. Excellant service and food. We came back the next night. The bill ran around $36 both nights. The owners are most gracious. Rented a jeep from J&E and drove around the island Saturday. Stopped at Mezcolitas bar and grabbed a beer and some nachos. Headed south and around the end. Not much going on. Left Sunday morning. Notes: When the cruise ships are in the place is flooded with people. Carlos & Charlies has moved to the new ship pier at Punta Langosta. One thing we saw, the policia stand outside C&C and stop people if the are loud when they leave. We watched them stop a couple groups of young people who were acting out when they left. I can see a problem there. Senior Frogs has opened above C&C. Jose' told me the locals have been frustrat
the increase in prices, but they are managing. As much as I like Coz, I will go other locations for my vacation.
