Cozumel Trip Report

June 10-14 Wedding Trip
Since this board was so helpful to me and my husband in planning our trip to
Cozumel, I thought I would make my contribution.
We went down to Cozumel with a group of 9 others to get married.
We stayed at the Allegro resort, and really enjoyed it. The grounds were
beautiful and well kept. I had never completely understood that the rooms
do not face into the ocean, but we were not in there much, so it was not a big
deal. The room was also nice - comfortable bed, very clean. My mom
tipped the staff well in her room, and every day for a week they covered it in
hibuscus flowers! We really enjoyed the two restaurants at the Allegro -
but make sure to make those reservations, because we only got to go twice.
The buffet was ok - but after a few days it could get a little old. What
we loved the most was the diversity of activities offered at the hotel - we had
my grandmother and her husband, my 20 something brother, and the best man with
his wife and 8 month old baby - and all had many activities to keep busy.
We dove with Dive Palancar - felt rushed with them with each dive, and there are
just too many people.
We took out the sailboats (katamarans) after taking a morning class - and just
loved that. My husband also went windsurfing.
As for the wedding - we used Fiona with Something Special weddings. Fiona
worked with me since September to plan the wedding, and generally it was great.
Only a few mishaps, but they are to be expected. The photographer
was wonderful!
After the wedding, we dined at Pepes. The staff was incredibly attentive
and gracious - gave us a significant discount on our bill. The food was
great - steak and lobster. They made our wedding night truly special.
We also rented a car with one of the agencies on the board - the car was clean,
and ran great. Only hitch is they don't tell you that if you use a credit
card, they will charge you with their own exchange rate, rather than what the
banks currently use - works to their advantage. I feel they should have
said that up front.
After that - we headed off to Akumal on the Riveria Maya - highly recommend a
visit there!
Hope you have a great time - we can't wait to go back!
