Cozumel Trip Report

Trip report Dec 17-23

Dec 17-23 and 30th
Weather was windy and overcast many days, really cut into our diving plans.
Stayed at out timeshare ar Pardisus in the tower, as before, the check in and out was easy, the grounds are still REAL nice. The rooms are old and in need of NEW furniture and redone bathrooms. The service is also great. We did the all inclusive this time to try it. BUffet breakfast and lunch, snack bar and sit down restaurant at night. Food was good not great, drinks were good also. I would not do it again cause I am am not a big eater or drinker but its nice knowing where your meals are coming from ahead of time. Lots of seaweed on the shore but they are there raking every morning!
Diving with PAPA hogs was good except if the had cattle boats you could of at least done a few more dives(they let bigger boats out sometimes when the fast boats can't get out). Lost sight of the DM 3 times on one dive, which surprised me, but I am a big girl no problems! Also last dive had high waves and the DM was in the boat while other divers were on there own to finish safety stop and get back abaord. Water temp was a constant 79-80 degrees on all dives. I wore a full 3mm with a short 3mm vest and was comfortable. I am a baby about cold water! Saw my first shark and several octo. Dove Chakanaab on a windy day, it's $10 US to get in and they charged $15 for a DM because of bad weather conditions, I was put out at first but the DM did a nice job showing us around. Tanks and # $6 each plus $15 for DM, total $27 for 2. Also dove La Ceiba to see plane wreck, nice beginning dive, easy acces and nice people! Again tanks and # $6 per person.
Vis wasn't as good as I have seen it with the weather conditions, but still nice.
Budget rent a car does NOT have airport pick up any more, only down town! So we went with Executive for the same price. Went to Cancun at the Royal Sands for a week, nice place, did 2 cenote dives with Solo Buceo, very diferent dives in caverns pretty but no sealife. A must do at least once! Went back to Coz for one night, walked into Plaza Las Glorious and gota studio room for $120 for a night, after being told special rate of 50 per cent of for $175, asked for something cheaper and got a room. We wanted to dive the wreck, but again ports closed due to high winds :( Love this place can't wait to go back to the island it's beginning to feel like home!
