Trip Report Oct. 19-26th

Flight via US Airways went well. We stayed at the Reef Club. This is our second time staying at the there. The service in the buffet restaurant is so so. Some of the waiters will totally ignore you and won't bring your coffee, you have to ask for it. The drinks are watered down, pretty hard to go on a good drunk unless you drink beer. The beach area and pools are nice. We stay in the Reef Regency Complex which is brand new and is very clean and the maids are excellent as far as cleaning your room, restocking your supply of toilet paper and clean towels. We went on the Wild Tours ATV tour which starts at Mezcalito's. I highly recommend this tour, it is a lot of fun! Make sure you rent your own bike for it is rough going and I couldn't imagine being on the back with someone else driving. The Sand Dollar Dive operation is Ok. Cattle boats though. The visibility wasn't as good as we expected. Maybe a  little stirred up from the recent storms. Thank god we weren't staying in Puerto Vallarta! Make sure you ask the taxi drivers for their rate before you start going because they tend to overcharge you. One time going to town the rate was 13.00 and the next it was 17.00! And 20.00 to the airport! The last time we were there (April 2001) the rate from our hotel to town was 10.00. Quite an increase there. Also, the best deals to be had we found were 1-2 blocks back from the main street. Also, the food was excellent when you went to these quaint little places off the main drag. We rented a car and drove to the other side of the island and found Mezcalito's food to be a lot better than Coconut's but Coconut's view is nice and music is great so I recommend stopping at both places! :) My husband Dave had a race to the beach with a guy 20 years younger than him and he won the free trip to the Reef Club, so we are going back next year for sure!
