Brief and late TRIP REPORT..

I have been behind in posting a trip report, for two reasons.  First reason being...I am busy as can be working. Second being...I am lazy!

Well, and third... I Like to let all the smoke clear out of here.

Not tons to say! You all might be bored with this one.

I spent only a brief time in Cozumel.  I could only go for a short trip, but short is better than no trip at all.

Chica Feliz and I found a great deal out of Detroit that I could not pass up.  We left for the Island on the 9-18-02 at about 9 am.  Arrived in Cancun and shuttled down to Playa for the ferry.

Met up with DonnaR..and some other man who owns a condo in playa.  Our drivers were great guys.  Luis and Juan.  We asked them to stop at a beer store for some Ice cold SOL.  You should have seen the smiles on their faces. " No Problem" they say. The drive to Playa was ever so pleasent thanks to these two men. They were a lot of fun to chat with.  I think we payed $8-9 dollars each.  Opt'd out of the bus trasportation....we had a ferry to catch.

Made it to Playa in time to catch the 1 pm ferry.
I can tell you all I was the happiest women alive riding a top that ferry inching toward Cozumel.
I had chills of excitment all over.  The Temp was perfect..the breeze was perfect..the smell of salt air was perfect..and the most perfect was that little isla coming into focus on the horizon.

As always..I am stunned and overcome with joy when I first step foot on the soil.  It is a totally amazing place. We felt as if we arrive back to our home.  If fact I think one of us uttered those words.
Chica Feliz and I check into Amigos B&B..for our stay.  Nice grounds..and suited our needs. Anyone interested in our stay there please let me know.  Otherwise check the rev's above.

Checked-in, Cleaned-up and off we go.  We spent the frist night bar hopping..and running into old friends, and making some new. From all over the world. Germany, Italy...just know I jabbered at lots of people.

Rented a car and drove around visiting beach clubs, resturants, cross island establishments, wave watching, walking the beaches, and visiting friends around the island.
Spent time walking the streets and greeting the locals,  Always trying to walk off that SOL.
Did our share of people watching, and scanning the aqua waters for fishys.  (Think I saw some little sharks out in front of the Sol Cabanas)

The three days I was there went by in a blink of an eye.  I am seriously thinking of diving..but decided that the three days wasn't enough to tackle that.  I plan on learning at home first and then hooking up with my friends from Black Shark when I go back in March.

All in All we had a wonderful time
relaxing...visiting....and "BUZZIN" around in the car.   I highly recommend Costa Bravas, Mexican platter for two!  Ymmmmyy!
They bring tons of food.  A big platter that fills a sqaure table and a couple of beers..runs $30.  They are nice people and the kids are so cute too. We all know about the sweet faces gracing Cozumel.

Saturday the 21st I headed to the pier to catch my ferry to Playa. I don't want to leave..not one bit!!! The wind was howling and the wake was rough.  They managed to get the 9 am out of Coz..and I was hesitant to board.  One major mistake I made this trip was not calling to confirm my flight.   I always do and for some dumb reason didn't.  Guess I was so mellowed out I just kinda floated around on cloud nine much of the time and didn't care.
Made it back to Cancun to find our flight was cancelled.   As Many of you have read...I was stuck in Cancun for about three days.

First I was distressed ...had to call home and straigten out the boss and the family..Let them know I was still alive! LOL  Luckly I had DonnaR with me or else this gal (I) would have been stranded on her own in Cancun!  I don't think I would have enjoyed it.  The second morning in Cancun I called to see if I could get back to Cozumel.  NO SUCH LUCK! That killed me to be stuck between, my friends in Coz and my family/friends at home.

DonnaR and I made the best of the situation and went out on the town.  Hit the malls, the resturants, the bars, and the movies. I did something I hardly ever do. BUY stuff!!!! Let me tell ya gals..it cheered me right up.  A couple silver braclets and a CD works wonders.
Even got to go to a tequila tasting event...told DonnaR I should have had dinner first but what the hey..where do I have to be I am stuck in a hurricane for God's sake!  That was a bonus to my stay in Cancun.
Also made a couple of e-mail pen pals there is Cancun.

Kept in contact with my partner in Crime Chica Feliz who was stranded in Cozumel....( poor poor poor child)  Found out she is stuck til Saturday...three extra days.  ( at this point I was kicking myself for boarding that 9 am ferry)  guess there is always a lesson to be learned!!
I wanted to be stuck in Cozumel too!!! boo hoo hoo hoo!
I wouldn't have minded in the least being stuck ..even if it ment missing oh...5 more days of work! I just wasn't that lucky..but I won't complain to much, at least I got an extended Vacation.

Cancun was nice..and rainy. I met several wonderful people there.  It in my mind doesn't compare to Cozumel.  I just made the best of it.  I found the kind spirit of Mexico was still present, just not as easy to find.

DonnaR and I flew out at 11 pm Tues the 24th.  Flight was a bit bouncy for the first 45 minutes.
Our plane did a little titter tottering on take off. Yeeeps!  Winds were still strong..in fact that morning I thought they were stronger than they had been, but hey they know what they're doing.

So basically I had another amazing time in Cozumel.  I can only say it was far to short.  Cozumel and it's people have an extra special place in my heart, and I always feel honored to be so warmly accepted.

Here I am back in cold rainy Michigan trying to focus on life here. I can't seen to avoid sites and sounds of Cozumel, and like all of you I relive the moments in my head on a daily basis.

Mission accomplished! Got a little chuck of time in what I call heaven on earth.  I still love Cozumel, I take the bad with the good and I focus on the good.
It is not a perfect place, but still has it's own beauty that many of us are fortunate enough to experience.

Going back in Feb/March.  I am sure I will have more to report at that time, and maybe I will meet some of you then.

Maybe Chica Feliz will post a picture from our trip.  How bout it Chica!

till next time,
Lisa
