Cozumel Trip Report
Posted by rita on 12/10/00

home again great time!

Got home late last night. Dang plane was late leaving us missing our connection but ... we finally made it.

We arrived in coz on Dec 2 and were met at the airport by chuco and alicia as that was to be our home away from home for the week. As soon as we hit the customs through the glass I recognized Chuco from his picture on the board earlier. I started waving and pointed him out to my son and then Alicia came and joined him.

It was just wonderful to be in the warm sunshine driving through town and chatting. We got to Alicias and she was having one of her yardsales so we quickly unpacked the things we had brought and got them up for sale. Joanne (another guest and dear friend of Alicias) was holding down the fort while they got us from the airport.

J (my son) and I got up to our room after meeting Chavita the dog although I am not sure she knows she is a dog she acts so much like a kid. Changed into shorts and set out uptown with Joanne for a round of mini golf. It was fun, even getting caught in the rain at the last couple of holes.

Joanne was great to talk to as she has a most interesting line of work and we enjoyed our day out with her.

I am not much of a writer as some of you and we were so busy the days sorta have run together in my mind but we had the best trip ever.

We met some great people and Chuco and Alicia are fantastic hosts. I would recommend there place in a heartbeat.

We dove with Deep Blue and Luis was our divemaster. He did an outstanding job and I thank Joanne for her recommendation of this shop. They are all some super people. We saw rays, barracudas, turtles, lobsters, crabs and loads of fish but alas no seahorses. I probably just missed them but no complaints cause our dives were certainly to use my sons words "AWESOME!!"

We snorkled dzul, took the bus to Tulum, toured Xcaret, did the other side of the island with a couple at the B&B from Washington state who were great fun, shopped, and ate like kings.
My son says it was the best vacation of his life and I have to agree. He sure tired me out LOL. He met a lot of kids at the recreation centre and joined some basketball and soccer games and also went out on the town another night with some of the guys.

Alicia and Chuco if you read this many many thanks to you both. We had an absolutely lovely time and hope to see you again soon. You are both just great!

peace rita
