Trip report   Day 1

We get at the airport 2.5 hours early.  We go through security and I have to get my clunky sandals x rayed, otherwise no hangups.  They did not even stop us for our dive computers or cameras.  Total time to check in and go through security, about 10 minutes.  Smooth flight to Coz.  About Allegro and carryons, they allow 1 carryon per person, even bags with wheels. We get the green light and hurry to walk and get a taxi.  Within three minutes we have one.  However there is a problem. the driver does not have a clue where Alicia's B&B is and guess what I forgot the address.  So we tell him to drop us off at Smart rentals, after he finally finds Smart, we pickup our car.  So there is still a problem, how do we get to Alicias? We are able to find our way to the mini golf course and Sally gives us the address to Alicias.  Thanks again Sally.  At 1230 we finally arrive!  Alicia,Chuco,Chavita and Christi are all there to greet us.  We unpack our stuff, have a drink and all talk for a while. After visiting,we drive to Chedraui and get some money out of the ATM.  We then decide to have lunch at Las Palmas.  No one speaks English there but we are able to order without problems.  I get the stuffed ham and cheese chicken breast and my husband, Jason, gets beef fajitas.  It included soup and salad all for about $11 including tip.  I love Coz!  We then decided to go to Pico's reef to get a couple of shore dives in.  We can not wait to get into the water.  We check out our weights, etc and go for two long shallow dives with max depths around 25 feet.  After diving we head back to Alicia's to take a thirty minute siesta.  When we wake up we decide to go to Otates to pick up some tacos al pastores.  We get ten tacos and a six pack of beer at Chedraui for around $9.50.  Can't beat the prices!  We are in bed around 9:45.  What party animals, huh?  We were really tired from traveling 7 hours to get to the DFW airport,so the sleep was needed.  More to come tommorrow.

Trip report   Day Two

Woke up @ 7:30. Christi met us at Alicia's and we all enjoyed a GREAT breakfast made by Chuco.  We had Mayan eggs, fresh fruit, homemade guacomole, fresh fruit, tortillas, chips, salsa, etc.  Yum!!!  Just what we need before our day of diving.  We follow Christi to Caleta and head out on our dives.  We first dive Palancar and then Cedral pass (I think, I do not have my log book around).  The water was just as beautiful as I remembered it.  The diving was great and Christi was a great divemaster.  When we get back to the docks we decide to drop off our gear and head to Dzhul Ha for some margaritas and relaxation.  No cruise ship people here today.  In fact we have the place almost to ourselves.  It was great to relax on the beach, sipping ritas and enjoying the beautiful water.  We then decided to get back into the water and do some snorkeling.  We should have brought our equipment with us and did a third dive, but oh well, another excuse to go back!  For dinner tonight we decide on El Moros.  Last time we were in Coz in took us a while to find it. This time we find it right away.  Awesome food, good prices.  We then drive around a little bit.  Coz has changed since we last visited a year and nine months ago. I really like Chedraui.  I do not like the big mall.  We did not visit the new Carlos and Charlies or any other part of the Punta Lagosta.  Looking at it while driving by was enough for me.  After a perfect day we head back to Alicia's for some zzzs.

Day Three

The day begins with another one of Chuco's awesome breakfasts.  We meet at the Caleta and off  on another day of awesome diving.  Today we did a dive on Columbia Deep and Francesca.  We saw two murse sharks, three turtles, and a sting ray, plus much more. We drop our gear off at Alicia's and my hubby decides to dip, or should I say sink, our regular camera into the rinse tank.  The camera is now ruined and so is the film in it.  Then I realize, where is my underwater camera? I realize that I left it on the boat.  I could not be mad at him for dipping our land camera when I forgot my more expensive underwater camera.  We call Christi and we get our camera back the next day. Thanks Christi! We decide to go eat somewhere that we can watch the sun go down.  We had a coupon for an appetizer, from the little blue Coz book, for Ernestos.  We have shrimp quesidillas,chicken/beef fajitas for entrees, and cheese nachos for an appetizer.  I like their new location on the water so much better.  Nicer ambience, great sunset, however increased prices.  After dinner we decide to go and play a round of mini golf. It was really a lot of fun.  If you go be sure to try some of Sally's famous sangria.  The music is also good and the course is challenging. Sorry for not having pics, but as you can see we had trouble with cameras on this trip.  As soon as I get the underwater pics developed I will try to post them.  As far as the sunsets, beach, etc, it is stored in the memory bank.  Tommorrow our last full day on the island.  Boohoo!

Day Four (rest of report posted last week...better late than never)

It is our last full day on the island.  We start out with another awesome breakfast by Chuco.  This time it is Mexican omelettes with fresh fruit, tortillas, chips, salsa and the famous guac.  We then go to La Ceiba for 2 last shore dives.  The dives were nice, but NOISY.  Three cruise ships pulled in when we were down under and the noise was horrible.  We saw the tiniest baby moray I have ever seen.  It was probably about 1/2 inch.  It was amazing. Of course, I did not take my camera with me on these last dives.  After our dives we went to the humane society and brought lots of treats, toys and food for the animals.  The animals have a nice place there and it is well worth a visit to bring donations.  We then went to 30th and 4th and bought some chicken, tortillas, rice, cabbage and spaghetti for 5.50 pesos.  What a bargain.  We drove to the East side and had a picnic on a nice little stretch of beach.  We enjoyed the crashing of the waves and our last time on the East side until we return again.  For dinner that night we chose Primas. we decided to walk there from Alicia's and it was a nice stroll. It was our anniversary the next day and we like the food at Primas.  This was our most expensive meal during our stay $33 including tip for 2 entrees and two glasses of Merlot.  This is what we would have paid to eat at a place like Olive Garden here in the States. After the walk home,it was time to pack up.  Tommorow it is goodbye Coz.
