The Original Tucan Sailing Tour
Don't be fooled by other similar tours or same tour name.

Full day of sun, sailing, snorkeling, remote beach, fishing, spinnaker rides and music!

The "Tucan Sailing Adventure"  is a full day sail trip that travels to the unchartered remote location in the northern bay of Cozumel.   The "Tucan" is a tri-maran sailboat is 35' that is rated as a 28 person passenger boat.

The tour will start off hoisting the sails and sail north along the west coast of Cozumel Island and set a few fishing rods for a chance at a fish or two.  Anything caught normally goes on the menu for the day.   We sail north past all the hotels and past Punta Norte.  The first mate makes fresh pico de gallo and guacamole on the large table in the center of the cockpit, while serving drinks.  Enjoy fresh pico de gallo and guacamole served with tortilla chips and open bar all day...coke, diet coke, sprite, purified water  and beer.

We then visit barren, remote beaches that is only accessible by boat. The charcoal grill gets started while you swim, sun or lounge on the beautiful white natural sandy  beach.  When everyone has been shuttled back to the boat, the lunch is hot and ready and served on the boat.  We grill spicy chicken wings and arrachera (fajita style beef), warm flour tortillas, pico de gallo, guacamole, tortilla chips, potato/chicken salad and refried beans.  If we are lucky, we will also have fresh fish!

If the wind is good, this is a good time to bring out the spinnaker sail for the ride of a life time.  We connect it behind the Tri-maran to the main halyard at the top of the mast, then we connect a strap like seat between the two bottom corners and when you  set in it and the wind blows, you are lifted into the air.  Nothing compares to this feeling.

We then pull up the anchor and move to a series of coral heads that are near by where we anchor again and check out the reefs and underwater life.  The coral here is pristine. The fish are shy and in there natural habitat.  We see many different types of fish and have seen nurse sharks, sea turtles and barracudas on occasion. Star fish and stingrays are common. This snorkel location is not for beginners.  We are normally in calm water but sometimes when the wind is strong, the chop on the water can make it difficult for the beginner snorkelers.  No matter what the condition of the water, the coral heads are a site to see. The only other boats we see are the occasional local fishermen returning from their day at sea.

Time to sail back and relax with music, tequila and rum!  We make rum punch, the old fashion way, one at a time, margaritas, pina coladas, rum and cokes, daiquiris (we have a blender on board the boat and a full bar).  We drop the fishing lines back in again and head for the marina.

This trip is not for the faint of heart; this tour involves getting in out of the boat via ladders and tenders and boat can get rocky at times. People who get sick from sea sickness, the boat will not be able to bring someone that is seasick back to the hotel or marina early because of the remote location that we travel to.

  • Private washroom

Recommended to bring: towel, underwater camera, swim suit, sun block, personal snorkeling equipment. (we supply equipment as well, it is included) music C.D.'s if desired, sailing gloves if they want to help sail, specialty snacks if they have small children and motion sickness pills or patches for those that get sick easily.

To avoid sea sickness it is highly recommend to take sea-sick/motion sickness pills with a full breakfast before this trip.  Most people that are worried about getting seasick think that not eating is better but it only makes it worse.  The motion sickness pill should be taken with breakfast, not when they get onboard or when they start feeling sea-sick.
