San Gervasio is a small ruin site compared to Tulum and Chichen
Itza but is still very interesting and full of history. San Gervasio is a Mayan
archeological site which served as a religious community. San Gervasio was dedicated
to the Mayan goddess Ix Chel, deity of midwifery, fertility, medicine and weaving.
Women from the mainland settlements made a pilgrimage to San Gervasio. Many
statues of Ix Chel were found here and the ruins consists mainly of small temples
and shrines. The ruins still lie in its natural setting and its history makes
